BLADENBORO – Junior Megan Pait and sophomore Holland Davis nailed 3-point shots during a 9-0 3rd quarter run that propelled West Bladen to a 28-16 lead and eventual 30-22 non-conference girls basketball victory over North Brunswick Tuesday night.

The Lady Knights led19-16 at halftime before Pait and Davis rang up the 3-balls. Senior Rylee Chadwick hit a free throw, and junior Brookee Singletary pumped in a basket. Chadwick sank 2 free throws for the only West points in the final period.

Chadwick topped all scorers with 12 points. Singletary followed with 7 points, and Davis totaled 5 points. Senior Jadamis Burnett led the Lady Scorpions with 11 points.

“Sometimes we got out of our rotations, but we still played pretty good defense,” said West Bladen Coach Brian McCleney. “The girls played hard.”

The teams battled on even terms through the 1st half. Chadwick poured in 4 baskets and a free throws, and Singletary threw in a basket and made 3 free throws as West built the 19-16 lead. Senior Lainey Autry and Davis added a basket each, and sophomore Alina Chavez connected on a free throw.

The Lady Knights, now 4-1, will travel to West Columbus Friday night.
