ROCKY POINT – West Bladen built a 19-7 halftime lead and cruised to a 36-16 Four County Conference girls basketball victory Tuesday night over Heide Trask.

Seniors Akira Grimes and Logan Autry nailed 3-point shots in the first quarter as the Lady Knights raced to a 14-4 lead. Grimes, senior Laikyn Pait, junior Patience Parker and sophmore Erica McKoy tossed in baskets in the period for West Bladen.

McKoy and junior Elizabeth Allbright connected for second quarter baskets, and Pait hit a free throw to push the West lead to 19-7 at halftime.

Parker and Autry threw in baskets in the third period, and Parker made a free throw as the Lady Knight lead grew to 24-11.

Autry pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw in the final period and led the West Bladen scoring with 10 points. Allbright worked the paint for a basket and a free throw in the fourth quarter.

Grimes finished with 7 points for the winners, and Pait, Allbright and Parker followed with 5 points each.

Coach Rick Rhoda’s Lady Knights remained unbeaten in league play with a 2-0 record and improved their overall record to 6-5. West Bladen will host Pender Wednesday night.
