BLADENBORO – Sophomore Rylee Chadwick and junior Hannah Pait teamed up for 18 points Tuesday as West Bladen raced to leads of 10-1 and 25-6 en route to a 38-29 girls basket ball victory over West Columbus.

Chadwick led the Lady Knights with 10 points, and Hannah Pait dropped in 8 points. Sophomore Lainey Autry finished with 6 points, and freshman Mallory Bryan and sophomore Makayla Wright added 4 points each.

Two baskets by Chadwick and one each by Hannah Pait, Autry and Wright sparked West Bladen to the early 10-1 lead. Hannah Pait worked the paint for 2 baskets, and Autry sank 2 free throws and a basket to spark a 15-5 Lady Knight surge in the 2nd period.

Bryan, Wright and Chadwick netted a basket each in the 2nd quarter, and freshman Brooke Singletary cashed in a free throw. Chadwick and junior Olivia McCarty threw in a basket each in the 3rd quarter to keep the Lady Knight lead at 29-13.

Freshman Megan Pait drained a 3-point shot for the Lady Knights in the final quarter. Chadwick, Bryan and Hannah Pait tallied baskets as West Bladen held off a Lady Viking rally.

Haley Brown pumped 10 of her 16 points for West Columbus in the second half. Teammate Tierra Braddy tallied all 10 of her points in the 2nd half.

Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights improved to 2-0 and will return to action Friday, January 22nd at Fairmont in their Three Rivers Conference opener.
