LAKE WACCAMAW – Junior Lexie Corrothers scored 7 of her 15 points in the final period to spark West Bladen to a 39-24 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over East Columbus Tuesday night.
The Lady Knights carried a 24-17 lead into the final quarter. Corrothers threw in 2 baskets and 3 free throws, and senior Scjada Ellison banged in 2 baskets and a free throw to key a 15-7 closing run.
Junior Kasee Singletary and freshman Haley George finished with 6 points each for the Lady Knights, and Ellison and junior Seniah Johnson totaled 5 points each.
Corrothers sank 2 free throws and a basket as West Bladen built a 6-3 first quarter lead.
Singletary and Johnson drained 3-point shots and added a basket each in the second quarter as the Lady Knight grew to 22-15 at halftime. Corrothers pumped in 2 baskets in the period.
Both teams struggled offensively in the third period, but a George basket kept the West lead at 24-17.
Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights improved to 3-0 in league play and 6-2 overall. West Bladen will host South Robeson Friday night.
