FAIRMONT – West Bladen’s Lady Knights outscored Fairmont 14-12 in the final period Friday night to preserve a key 41-38 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory.
The Lady Knights carried a slim 27-26 lead into the final period. Seniors Mikayla Meadows and Seniah Johnson threw in 2 baskets each, and seniors Kasee Singletary and Lexie Corrothers tossed in a basket and a free throw each to keep West on top.
Corrothers led the Lady Knights with 12 points, and Johnson followed with 11 points. Singletary finished with 7 points.

Johnson sparked West Bladen to an early 11-5 lead with 2 baskets and a free throw. Singletary and Corrothers bombed in 3-point shots in the first quarter.
Paris Bethea keyed a Fairmont second-period rally with 6 points as the Lady Tornadoes sliced the lead to 20-18. Sophmore Hannah Pait worked inside for 2 baskets, Johnson and Jamiyah Melvin-Hall netted baskets, and Singletary made a free throw to keep the Lady Knights ahead.
Corrothers fired in a trio of baskets, and freshman Rylee Chadwick sank a free throw as West Bladen maintained a 27-26 lead at the third quarter break.
Jakirra White topped the Fairmont scoring with 10 points, and Bethea followed with 9 points.
Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights, now 7-1 in the TRC and 9-3 overall, will host Red Springs Tuesday night.
