TABOR CITY – Sophmores Seniah Johnson and Lexie Corrothers sparked West Bladen to an early 17-11 lead and eventual 43-30 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over South Columbus.
Johnson bombed in a pair of 3-point baskets in the first quarter, and Corrothers tossed in a pair of baskets and 2 free throws. Senior Patience Parker threw in a basket, senior Chasitty Lacey sank 2 free throws, and senior Elizabeth Allbright hit a foul shot.
Allbright banged in 2 more baskets in the second quarter. Junior Carley Dawson pumped in a basket and a free throw, and Parker added a free throw as the Lady Knight lead grew to 25-17 at halftime.
Parker, Johnson and Lacey popped in a basket each in the third quarter, and Parker made a free throw to keep West Bladen up 32-24 at the quarter break.
Lacey buried a 3-point shot in the final period, and Corrothers nailed a 2-point shot. Parker and junior Conner Brisson drained 3 free throws each to push the Lady Knight lead to 43-30.
Parker led the Lady Knight scoring with 9 points. Johnson and Corrothers followed with 8 points each. Lacey finished with 7 points, and Allbright chipped in with 5 points.
The victory gives Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights a sweep of the season series with South Columbus and moves West ahead of the Lady Stallions in the TRC standings.
West Bladen will host Fairmont Wednesday night.
