RED SPRINGS – Senior Lexie Corrothers poured in 17 points, and West Bladen rode a 19-0 third-quarter blitz to a 44-11 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over Red Springs on Friday night.
Corrothers threw in 2 baskets and a free throw as the Lady Knights jumped in front 9-2, then tossed in a trio of free throws in the second quarter.
Sophomore Haley George pumped in a basket and a free throw, and seniors Kasee Singletary and Mikayla Meadows added baskets as the West lead grew to 21-7 at halftime.
Corrothers blistered the nets with 4 baskets and a free throw in the third period, and George flipped in a pair of baskets. Senior Seniah Johnson and freshman Lainey Autry tossed in baskets, and freshman Rylee Chadwick sank 2 free throws to push the lead to 40-7.
Meadows and George popped in 4th quarter baskets for West. George finished with 11 points, and Johnson followed with 6 points.
Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights raised their record to 2-0 in league play and 4-1 overall. The Lady Knights will host East Columbus on Tuesday night.
