BLADENBORO – Junior Makayla Wright fired in 17 points, and West Bladen’s defense completely stymied South Columbus as the Lady Knights claimed a 46-4 non-conference girls’ basketball victory Tuesday night.

Junior Rylee Chadwick peppered the nets with a trio of 1st quarter baskets, and sophomore Brookee Singletary popped in 2 baskets and a free throw. Wright and sophomore Megan Pait added a basket each as West built a 15-0 lead.

Wright took charge in the 2nd period with a trio of baskets and a free throw. Junior Hannah Pait worked the paint for a pair of baskets. Megan Pait sank a basket and a free throw as the halftime lead grew to 29-1.

Junior Lainey Autry bombed in a 3-point shot in the 3rd quarter, and Wright threw in a pair of baskets and connected on all 4 of her foul shots to stretch the lead to 40-3.

Freshman Alina Chavez battled inside for a pair of 4th quarter baskets, and junior Kirsten Warwick tossed in a basket.

Chadwick tallied 6 points for the winners, Megan Pait and Singletary finished with 5 points each, and Hannah Pait and Chavez netted 4 points each.

Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights improved to 7-2 and will be idle until they open Southeastern Athletic Conference play at East Bladen on January 4th.
