ROSE HILL – Seniors Jerena Purdie and Laikyn Pait teamed up for 28 points to lead West Bladen’s Lady Knights to a 49-25 Four County Conference girls basketball victory over Union Friday night.

Pait sank 4 of 4 free throws and a basket as the Lady Knights grabbed a 12-7 first period lead. Seniors Akira Grimes and Logan Autry tossed in a basket each in the quarter.

Purdie powered inside for 2 baskets and a free throw, and sophmore Conner Brisson popped in a pair of baskets in the second period as the Lady Knight lead grew to 26-14 lead. Grimes and Autry added a basket each in the quarter, and junior Patience Parker made a free throw.

Pait pumped in two baskets and a free throw in the third period, and Grimes canned a trio of free throws and another basket. Sophmore Erica McKoy tacked on a basket as the lead stretched to 38-20.

Purdie worked the paint for 2 baskets and a free throw in the final quarter, and McKoy netted a basket and 2 free throws. Grimes also delivered a basket.

Purdie led the Lady Knights with 15 points, and Pait followed with 13 points. Grimes and McKoy finished with 6 points each.

LaTyra English topped the Union scoring with 11 points.

West Bladen improved to 5-3 in league play and 9-9 overall. The Lady Knights will travel to Wallace-Rose Hill Monday night.
