BLADENBORO – West Bladen’s defense sparked the Lady Knights to leads of 16-0, 33-6 and 50-11 en route to a 55-19 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over West Columbus Friday night.
Senior Lexie Corrothers fired in 3 baskets and 3 free throws in the first period as the Lady Knights grabbed the 16-0 lead. Senior Seniah Johnson tossed in 2 baskets, and senior Kasee Singletary flipped in a basket and a free throw.
Senior Mikayla Meadows worked the paint for a trio of baskets in the second quarter. Singletary canned 2 free throws and a basket, and sophomores Haley George and Hannah Pait and junior Jamiyah Melvin-Hall added baskets as the Lady Knight halftime lead grew to 33-6.
George, Corrothers, Meadows and freshman Rylee Chadwick pumped in a basket and a free throw each in the third quarter. Johnson and junior Ocean Woody popped in a basket each to extend the margin to 50-11.
Freshman Lainey Autry drained a 3-point shot in the final period, and Singletary added a basket for the Lady Knights.
Corrothers topped the West Bladen scoring with 12 points, and Singletary followed with 10 points. Meadows finished with 9 points, and Johnson tallied 6 points.
Haley Brown led the West Columbus scoring with 9 points, and LeOndra Smith scored 8 points.
Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights improved to 5-0 in the Three Rivers and 7-2 overall and will travel to unbeaten St. Pauls Tuesday night.
