ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Justyna Gargala and junior Hannah Devane fired in 3 goals each to lead East Bladen to a 7-0 Four County Conference girls soccer victory over Pender Thursday night.

Senior Lexie Mendell scored the other Lady Eagle goal. Sophmore Ashley Hardin contributed 4 assists, and Gargala and Devane added one assist each for the winners who led 3-0 at halftime.
Sophmore goalkeeper Ting Lin did not have to defend a shot on goal in the game.

“We played extremely well tonight,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor. “We have made a few changes and everyone seems to look more comfortable in their positions and their roles. Having everyone back healthy was a plus”

Raynor went on to praise his team’s attack. “We had a couple of goals called back due to offsides. We are being very aggressive and attacking the back post. Ashley is doing a great job distributing the ball and making plays for us.”

“Lexie was back and made some huge plays for us in midfield,” continued Coach Raynor. “Her defensive play in midfield allows Ashley to have more freedom on the attack and helps us keep the pressure on.”

“The girls were making good decisions and finding seams to play passes into,” noted Raynor. “Everyone got quality minutes tonight and made a difference in the game.”

East Bladen improved to 5-4 in league play and 9-4 overall. The Lady Eagles will host rival West Bladen Tuesday at 6 p.m.
