ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Maya McDonald and freshman Iveonna “NeNe” Ward both recorded ‘Hat Tricks’ Thursday night as East Bladen rolled to an 8-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ soccer victory over St. Pauls.

McDonald actually came within 1 goal of posting a ‘Double Hat Trick’ as she blistered the nets with 5 goals in the game and also dished out 2 assists. Ward was also credited with an assist to go with her 3 goals.

The Lady Eagles lit up the scoreboard with 5 goals in the 1st half then added 3 more after intermission. Other East Bladen players who dished out assists in the game were: junior Cydney Campbell and freshman Jackie Medina-Leal.

Junior Acee Campbell sparked the Lady Eagle defense with 31 steals in the game. Freshman Anna Miranda was credited with 26 steals, and Cydney Campbell had 24 steals. Ward and freshman Miriam DeVane both collected 21 steals.

Sophomore Zoe Smith came up with 20 steals for East, and McDonald and Medina-Leal finished with 18 steals each. Freshman Leah McGill and senior Merritt Martin followed with 17 steals each.

Sophomore Reese Hester recorded the shutout in goal for East Bladen.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Lady Eagles remained unbeaten at 6-0 in SAC-7 play and 9-0 overall. East Bladen will host Midway on April 26.
