ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Ashley Hardin poured in a ‘Hat Trick’ plus one of 4 goals Wednesday night to lead East Bladen to a 9-0 Three Rivers Conference girls soccer victory over Red Springs.

“Ashley had an outstanding game and has played really well the last few games,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor. ‘I thought we played well and moved the ball well at times.”

Hardin was also credited with an assist. Junior Sydney Wober contributed 2 goals and 2 assists to the Lady Eagle attack.

The Lady Eagles struck quickly as Hardin fired in a goal in the first 75 seconds. A minute later Hardin tallied her second goal off of an assist from junior Patience Ward.

In the 17th minute, junior Cybil Campbell knocked in a one-time volley from seven yards out off of a pass from Wober to boost the lead to 3-0.

Wober lit up the scoreboard with goals in the 29th minute and in the 31st minute as the lead grew to 5-0. Freshman Maya McDonald flicked in a deep pass from Hardin to pad the East Bladen lead to 6-0 at halftime.

Six minutes into the second half Hardin had turned assists from sophmore Katie Evans and Wober into two more goals and an 8-0 Lady Eagle lead. Sophmore Kenia Medina blasted in a shot from 22 yards out off of a pass from Wober to close out the game on the mercy rule.

“Katie is just shutting down our opponents in the midfield,” noted Raynor. “She’s our catalyst and we work off her. She does a good job of dishing the ball out. Kenia and Sydney also had outstanding performances tonight.”

East Bladen outshot Red Springs 25-0 in the game. “All and all the girls played well,” continued Raynor. “We were able to get some girls some minutes and try some different looks. Abigail (Collins) did well for us in the back tonight as did Merritt Martin.”

Raynor concluded, “ We are getting better and the girls are having fun.”  East Bladen, now 6-0 in league play and 8-0 overall, will host rival West Bladen Monday night.
