ELIZABETHTOWN – Seniors Abby Ward and Lacey Suggs combined for 2 goals and 4 assists in the first half Thursday night to lead East Bladen to a 9-0 Four County Conference girls soccer victory over West Bladen.

In the game’s second minute, Ward sent a pass to junior Justyna Gargala who knocked in the first East Bladen goal. Seven minutes later Ward set up senior Jazmin Salgado-Baza who converted the feed into the second Lady Eagle goal.

In the sixteenth minute, Suggs found the back of the net with a shot that padded the Lady Eagle lead to 3-0. Two minutes later Suggs sent a pass to Ward who fired in her first goal of the game as the lead grew to 4-0.

One minute later senior Claire Campbell turned a feed from Suggs into another East goal that stretched the Lady Eagle lead to 5-0 at halftime.

East Bladen tacked on four more goals in the second half. Coach Jay Raynor’s Lady Eagles improved to 11-2 in Four County Conference play and 17-2 overall.

Suggs tallied a pair of second-half goals to record a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals in the game.

Campbell booted in her second goal of the game in the second half, and Salgado-Baza also found the back of the net again with her second goal of the game.

Sophmore Hannah Devane who is working her way back into the line-up after missing some time with an injury dished out a pair of second-half assists for the Lady Eagles.

Freshman Ashley Hardin was credited with an assist for East Bladen, and Gargala added 2 assists for the winners.

Gargala and junior Hannah Allison had a team-high 4 steals each, and Suggs had 3 steals. Senior Kathryn Cole posted another shutout in goal for East Bladen.

Before the game seniors Cole, Suggs, Ward, Campbell and Salgado-Baza were honored in Senior Night festivities.
