DUBLIN – Sophomore Riley Gurganous racked up four goals to lead Pender to a 4-2 non-conference girls soccer victory over West Bladen Monday night.

After Gurganous scored her first two goals, sophmore Claudia Reyes fired in the first Lady Knight goal in the 30th minute of play. Gurganous answered a minute later to give the Lady Patriots a 3-1 halftime lead.

In the third minute of the second half, senior Melennie Hernandez turned an assist from senior Cynthea Landreth into a West Bladen goal that trimmed the Pender lead to 3-2.

Midway the final half Gurganous tacked on an insurance goal to pad the Lady Patriot lead to 4-2.

Sophmore goalie Alyssa Smith was credited with 5 saves for the Lady Knights.

West Bladen will travel to Wallace-Rose Hill Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match.
