TABOR CITY – South Columbus scored a pair of 1st half goals to take a 2-0 halftime lead enroute to a 3-1 non-conference girls’ soccer victory over West Bladen Friday.
Sophomore O’Mara McDonald banged in the Lady Knight goal off of an assist from senior Kaden Thurman. The Lady Knights had 8 shots on goal including 4 by senior Lainey Autry and 2 by junior Brookee Singletary.
Sophomores Haileigh Seabolt and Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz led the West defense with 9 steals each. Junior Eva Ayala-Martinez came up with 8 steals, Kaden Thurman collected 6 steals and senior Nadia Diaz Deleon, sophomore Jazmy Funez Aranda and freshman Makenna Thurman had 5 steals each.
Junior Briana Carranza Toledo recorded 8 saves in goal for the Lady Knights.
West Bladen, now 3-7, will host rival East Bladen Tuesday night.
