DUNN – Sophomore Brookee Singletary fired in the only goal of the game 1:38 into the 2nd half, and West Bladen’s defense made it stand up as the Lady Knights claimed a big 1-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference victory over Midway.

The win moved the Lady Knights into 3rd place in the SAC-7 with a 5-2 league record and 6-2 overall mark. Midway dropped to 4-3 in conference play.

“This was a tremendous win for us,” said West Bladen Coach Kristen Parker. “We have dealt with some injuries in the last few games and had to make some major adjustments. We have a few young players stepping up into new positions and making huge contributions on the field.”

Parker continued, “I really can’t put into words how proud I am of this team – this group of girls – they are special.”

Sophomore Briana Carranza Toledo and senior Hannah Hester combined to record the shutout in goal for the Lady Knights. “Briana was hurt early in the first half when she collided with a Midway player,” said Parker. “Hannah stepped in and finished the game with some critical saves for us.”

The two teams will play again Thursday night at West Bladen.
