ELIZABETHTOWN – Freshman Lauren Douglas and the doubles team of sophomore Yuri Santana and senior Olivia Skipper won key matches Thursday as West Bladen edged East Bladen 5-4 in Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ tennis action.

Seniors Kaden Thurman and Lainey Autry rang up their usual 3 points for the Lady Knights as Thurman and Autry won their singles matches then teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles. Douglas claimed a point with a victory at No. 5 singles, and Santana & Skipper won their No. 2 doubles match.

Sophomores tallied all of the Lady Eagle points. Leah McGill, Jackie Medina Leal and Anna Marie Miranda posted victories at No.3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles, and Leal and Miranda teamed up to win the No. 3 doubles match.

“It was a hard-fought match,” said West Bladen Coach Billy Bryant. The Lady Knights improved to 4-1 in SAC-7 play and are 4-4 overall. East Bladen is now 1-3 in conference play.

East Bladen will host Fairmont Thursday, while West Bladen will travel to Whiteville Monday.
