GC, I asked the previous question incorrectly. My proper question is to you, the Tory's (conservative Republican ) spokesman . Why are the Tories not in favor of election day being a Federal Holiday so more people can vote. Are you guys so desperate to survive that you are above nothing?

You people should be well warned: Democracy will win in the end. The last Tories who challenged American Democracy ended up in a gully beside the Cape Fear in Elizabethtown, North Carolina.

GC, as spokesman for the Tories (Conservatives) I must ask why you and your kind don't want Election Day to be a Federal Holiday ?

Since you love to dwell on people who hate our nation, like Mr. Arnold, Hitler, the Nazi's, Putin and it is beginning to look like Mr. Biden. How about it Billy, the leader of the free world the President of the United States can not even make a speech without getting Iran mixed up with Israel. Of course, Mr. Arnold is from the past which you seem to live in. Tell us once again how proud you are of Gerald Nadler, Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Charles Schumer. I think "pops" should name another holiday after you and name it Billyteeneth. If this keeps up, Americans will not have to wrok anymore because every day of the year will be a federal holiday. Who is going to keep those trucks on the roads Billy if all the CDL drivers are off on a holiday every day of the year? But, that is just where the democrats want this nation, groveling at the feet of the Federal Government. What you going to do Billy, when "pops" and his henchmen come for your children and grand children?

Billy, What you are really saying is that you are a judgmental dye in the wool democrat. One has to wonder when was the last time you read through the word of God, the Holy Bible, and saw what the total word of God has to say on a particular subject. First of all, God created everything (including maggots) but human beings ARE NOT maggots. Evidently you ran into some real maggots recently around you house; but you are so off base by calling a human being a maggot that it does not even warrant a reply. The same Bible you so flippantly refer to also says, "judge not, that ye be not judged . For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in you brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in your own eye. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine own eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye. Thou hypocrit, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; AND THEN shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Matthew 7:1-5.

You are so off base in your judgement of anyone else and it is apparent it is based on socialist communists" doctrine as you have stated in previous post. Just your comment about the "church house" shows you do not understand what or who Christ died for; it certainly was not for any temple or church, it was and still for those who will repent of their sins and accept Him as their personal Saviour.

Mark Harris has nothing to do with the decline of church attendance. Search a little deeper and you will find that it is more of a case of people sitting out at these stores and other places that have no connection with the Church, "God's Saved People" spouting off about what is wrong with the Church when they do not know what they are talking about. They are part of the crowd that thinks when the Bible speaks of "if my people" it means everybody even the sinners. NOT SO, it means exactly what it says "If my people".

I have heard Franklin Graham speak many times and his Dad also; never, have I heard either one of them make himself an appointer of Godly men. There is NO power in the House of God, the power is in the God of the House and the blood of His Precious Son, Jesus Christ. You owned the expression "maggot" in referring to a man of God; wonder if you would appreciate someone referring to the elder William Butler as a "maggot"? Judge not.

Not so ironic Billy, when one considers the fact that Billy Butler, Bill Clinton, Hussein Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Shumer, Maxine Waters, and Roy Cooper are DEMOCRATS. JUDGE NOT.
William Butler William Butler from Charlotte wrote on 06/17/2021 at 7:18 am
GC, what man of God are you speaking of ? One of Franklin Graham's GODLY men ? The one who preaches the words off Jesus of Nazareth or someone who knew the words in red and tossed them aside so he could be elected and gain POWER, even more than the power that the House of God held for him. I'm no Biblical Scholar but I'm thinking that the only recorded incidence of Christ's total rebuke on the Temple steps pretty much included false profets and their greed.

I can't believe that this sorry excuse of humankind has a job of standing in a pulpit. Hope they have strong lightning rods. People like this Maggot sold their Souls and need to spend much time to think about their reality.

People like Mark Harris are responsible for the downward spiral of Church attendance. If you think I'm being too critical of a liar just wait 'till his his heart stops beating and he pays for his Sins.

Ironic that He and Trump are Republicans...

Billy, Billy, Billy, Two post that show you believe in or are trying to live the past. To be pitied for sure. It is almost as if you don't want Bladenboro to prosper and be in good health. And that you want a man of God to be shamed and maybe sent to prison. Come out of the past Billy and start living in the present and hoping to start living in a better future. You probably think "pops' should be
impeached for his sons deeds. The House and Senate elections of this coming fall one year will determine all these situation. Wonder how the democrats will handle being impeached from all sides?

Billy, what I have seen and noticed at any foreign trip by our President and VP is that the United States is not represented by real leadership. Sadly, it will remain the same
until the general election in 2024. If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were asked what bird is the national bird of our country they would probably reply the TURKEY BUZZARD. You would probably do a better job of negotiating with a foreign power than "pops"; at least you do realize there is a difference between a fly speck and black pepper. Doubt "pops" has ever seen a fly speck. God keep us safe for the next 3 1/2 years. God bless America again.

GC, pardon my opining at such a late hour for you. Us Liberals call it an early start. I slept late yesterday because I as a Social Security Retiree I can. I did wake up to see Pops Biden tell Putin that he will be "SPITT'IN" in his eye in the next 2-3 days. I'm thinking that this whole Liberal Democracy Idea is working pretty well. When you get a chance watch Ken Burns' documentary about the Roosevelt family's impact upon the lives of the poor here. All colors of people were poor. Ironic the need for such forethought 100 years ago when they also had a Pandemic. If you want to talk about "maggot"; did not know human beings could be maggots, you are the one who posted it and you have to own it.

There are some maggots in NC and they just happen to be up in your city. Your police department has "expressed concern over what it said is a 210% increase in sexual assault cases involving children this year". That is a statement attributed to The Associated Press from Charlotte NC in today's The Fayetteville Observer. Congratulations Billy. See if you can throw your political persausion from the democrat party to clear this mess up. For God's sake, don't call "pops" to help you because he has been known to do some weird stuff around children. Maggots in Washington on 1-6-21, you got to be kidding; sounds to me like the maggots have been in Charlotte NC for the last year. Nice try Billy.

Billy, you need to go see a sleep therapist. Still up at 12:03 am watching flicks of Hitler and Mousolini is definitely not good for anyone who is patriotic to American ideals. Strange you should mention racism and Mousolini and Hitler in consecutive post. Just can stand it that President Trump did more for America in four years than "pops" has done in over forty years. He still has about three and one half years to do something. He has come up with a unique idea; DEBTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE REPAID. That plus the southern border fiasco should place him pretty close to the bottom in rankings of Presidents. His excuse will probably be that HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING. At last he will have hit the nail on the head. Believe it was one of the Roosevelts who is created with "all we have to fear is fear itself"; will left you take care of the ignorance part. Probably will be something relating to Mousilini and Hitler. Have you figured out yet why the illustrious VP we currently have wiped her hands on her pantsuit after she shook the hand of the President of South Korea? Isn't that GREAT DIPLOMACY? BTW, If President Trump were speaking to Tories as you say, there would be no sound to turn down. Don't think they had volume knobs back in the days of the Tories.

Didn't it rain rain rain brother oh my didn't it rain. To God be the glory. Oh no, "pops" wouldn't take credit for that would he?

Billy, you forgot to tell folks how to recognize a REPUBLICAN. Especially over this coming weekend. They will be the ones worshiping with their families on this coming Lord's Day and thanking Him that we still have the right to worship God. They will be the ones that will be doing some of the things that are mentioned in this forum about Memorial Day remembering those who gave their all that we could celebrate this day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day later on in the year. Thank God we still live in a country that remembers armed force members of our great nation and the sacrifice they made. They will be remembering our friend Israel that is still reeling from the bombs from Hamas. May we never forget our friend. They will be the families that will be enjoying picnics and family get togethers while celebrating the lives of those family members that served and are serving in branches of the United States of America's Armed forces.

Oh yeah, Billy, even some democrats will be doing some of the same things because when a comrade is in a rice patty field in Vietnam, the freezing mountains of Korea, the towns of Europe fighting the Nazi's, or the other battle fields that our Armed Forces personnel have served on to keep our nation free. One does have to wonder why there seems to be more patriotism during years when a Republican is serving in the White House versus this year. May we as American's continue to sing "America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea". God bless America this Memorial Day weekend as we remember those who gave their all to keep us free; and also every day of the year from "sea to shining sea".
God bless every family that has lost a loved one in any war and every family that has a living veteran or current member of our Armed Forces. God bless those veterans who have seen the passing of a spouse since the last Memorial Day.

Oh, I apologize, that was before you moved west. How many race tracks is it that now stand empty in NC because NASCAR shut down the races held in them. Just like the democrats to "shut down" things. By the way, Billy you did hear about "pops" stopping by to see the Israel hating House member in her home state WHILE Israel is being bombed. Of course, you do know what the Bible has to say about nations that turn their backs on Israel; you would not want to start up a trucking outfit in one of those nations. Billy, you seem to be a person that beleives in competition, and the end result of competitive football is to win. To be sure, Dick Butkus was a good player; BUT he never even led the Chicago Bears to a playoff game in his career. For that matter, neither did Gayle Sayers. Not a good choice to put forth as some who is going to get things done. And of course he has absolutely to do with the security of our capital grounds

Billy, have you forgotten son, Hunters, little escapades overseas; so much for "pops" declaration that he knew nothing about it.

To top it all off, today a wall of remembrance for the Korean War killed; "pops"'nowhere to be found but there was the President of Korea there. What a slap in the face for all American's who fought in that war and died. Seriously doubt those who are still alive will ever forget "pops" absence from those festivities. "Where oh where was "pops" at, why did leave the Korean Vets all alone; we search the dedication ceremony all around, but "pops" Biden could not be found. Would make a nice song if "HEE HAW" ever made a comeback.

As for "pops" and his letters, I doubt he knows the last time he wrote a letter so he would not know who he wrote it to. He is failing a the leader of our country and still denies that we have a catastrophic problem on the southern border. He denies it to the point that he will not even allow his "imigration Czar" even go down there to observe the mess.

So you are saying the leader of the free world should not deal with the Russians? What a short memory you have Billy. Surely you have forgotten those famous words by a great Republican President, "Mr. Gorbeshav, tear that wall down; it would still be there if the leader of the free world had not dealt with the leader of Russia. Come to your senses Billy. Wish "pops" would, but unforunately I think he is beyond medical help. God have mercy on our beloved country. Trump loved it and still loves it. Haven't heard "pops" make that statement yet.

Freedom of Speech is in Jeopardy

BladenOnline has received some complaints about one of our writers referring to the Covid 19 Pandemic as the "Xi Jinpingfluenza". One reader emailed in about the writer and stated, "The author of the article refers to the COVID-19 pandemic multiple times as the 'xi jinping fluenza.' I find that reference very offensive, racist, inappropriate, and completely irresponsible. Especially given the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes in this country over the past year."

I understand our reader's concerns. However, BladenOnline believes firmly in upholding our North Carolina and the United States Constitutional rights. At the same time, our team does not agree with everything published on BladenOnline; we reserve the rights of our citizens by publishing information.

According to USCourt.gov, American citizens have the right to use certain offensive words and phrases to convey political messages, such as shown in the court case Cohen v. California, 403 U.S. 15 (1971).

Also, citizens have the right to engage in symbolic speech, (e.g., burning the flag in protest). This type of issue was ruled on in the case Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989); United States v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990).

Our writer, H. Blake Proctor is a decorated United States War Veteran and a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy. His dissertation was "Identifying and Overcoming Barriers to the Implementation of Total Quality Management in Local Governments."

At times, Proctor uses words in his writings to have his readers think about things differently. He does not tell anyone how to think.

This week Proctor sent me an email explaining why he refers to the Covid-19 Pandemic as the Xi Jinpingfluenza. He said, "Xi Jinping is the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party - the CCP." He noted his belief in the CCP pushing the "natural-spread-from-a-host-animal" theory.

Researchers working on finding the origination of the Covid-19 Pandemic have stated, "We must take hypotheses about both natural and laboratory spillovers seriously until we have sufficient data. BladenOnline staff members witnessed firsthand how the First Amendment right is being trampled on, and how some government officials use terms like racism to divide the citizens and close doors to the media. Therefore, while we may not agree with calling the Covid-19 Pandemic the Xi Jinpingfluenza, we support Proctors' First Amendment right that he and so many others fought for by publishing his writings on BladenOnline.

In today's culture, we often misunderstand each other and are not allowed to have opposing ideas explained so all parties may understand each side. We do not have to agree, but every citizen deserves the right to voice their concerns.

We welcome anyone to write open letters, email us or call us about any concerns they may have about the works published on BladenOnline.com. Herb, don't you think it a little unusual that the only two people that have jump on the anti-Asian phobia going around spurred on by the democrat party. If it is not the American Indian, the black people, or the Japenese Americans, and now Asian Americans; one would think we have got to the point in this nation that we would be talking about American Americans. What segment of our population will you, Billy, and others who are looking for someone to blame for something be looking at next. Probably Bladen Americans.

If one is going into a news item looking to "notice Anti-Asian aspersion", guess what they will get? The slant that people are picking on Asian Americans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Look to the perpetrators of violence against anyone, not to an "indie" or a specific reporter. Notice you and Billy and those of your ilk never look at who is actually doing violence any American. If we are living here, working here, worshiping here, raising our families here, and doing anything that is American by nature; then "walla", we must be Americans. Drop anything that goes before American when describing anyone who is an American. Personally, I dropped any of those tags decades ago as it applies to me; the only time it ever comes up is when I am looking up my ancestory. Reference former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan's speech many years ago about people of any nationality coming to America. Believe she was democrat; it was the truth. but it made democrats look so bad that they took it off the air waves. WE ARE AMERICANS.

As for BOL, the owner of this news source is more than fair. Why, she even allows people to comment who are as liberal as the day is long and at least two of them have called for people of this county to boycott and put it out of business. God bless you Mrs. Smith and Mr. Proctor, and Mr. Robert Hester, and those who read BLADENONLINE and comment on it. At least she hasn't went the route of the "other news source" in Bladen and BANNED people from commnenting on news items. Maybe you and Billy can contact that news outlet and find out why he does that. Now that would be and "aspersion".

I too noticed the Blake Proctor Anti-Asian aspersion and was more than dissapointed. I realize rhat the BladenOnline is attempting to be primarily a Trumpian Blog, but I see no point in encouraging the type of violence that I have seen enacted on Asian Americans in the last few months, certainly not in what purports to be a straight news article. Shame on you Mr. Proctor, do straight news or write an Opinion piece.

I hope GC will find that I am qualified to comment on his “Bladen County Newsmen”, given that I am a resident and certainly my wife’s family has lived here well over 100 years…. 🙂

Herb, nice try. Go back and look at the four items. They all involve things that democrats would not touch with the proverbial, "ten foot pole". A full investigation would call for Pelosi being removed from office and President Biden and VP Harris being impeached.

GC… The 4 points you make sound like very good reasons to have a Bipartisan Investigation.

#1. Pelosi turned turned down assistance? Gee, what could possibly of been her motivation? If anyting I believe they would have killed her if possible.

#2. Were previous health problems what really caused the death of the police officers?

#3. Was it really BLM that led the insurrecttion? Wow, there must be a lot of white people in the BLM.

#4. Was it really just a tourist event?

A thorough Bipartisan Investigation could answer some of these questions.

It has been investigated Billy. #1 Your speaker Pelosi refused addtional police law enforcement to help the capital police. #2. The Capital police officer that had prior health prblems that caused his death. #3. The peaceful protester that day were infiltrated by BLM people. $4. Since when do American citizens Not have the right to take a tour through the Capital? Catch up Billy. By the way, the 2020 elections ares still being investigated, Billy. The question you need to be contemplating is what is going be the procedure to take "pops" out of the White House and put President Trump and First Lady back in there. Hold on for the ride, Billy.

PS Don't be jumping on our press people here in Bladen; keeping up with the mess in Mecklenburg should be a full time for your. BTW. Billy, one of the big things you refuse to face is facts. It is as almost you are against Americans expressing their opinions especially if those opinions go against what democrats are espousing. Take a look at your friend Herb's post and you will see why my comment about dogs. If you don't like the comment about about VP Harris being a black woman then you can set us all straight and tell us what she is. Most Americans agree that she is a black woman that is one heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States; why. because it is a fact. Then you bring race into the equation by asking what race was Sally Salter? Who is playing the race card? Just like most true democrats. If one doen't like "facts", the Guestbook, is not the place to be posting.

In case you have forgotten, your Dad and any other person who has been elected to the county commissioner board; have been elected to take care of the county's business. Seems you would prefer we have over 30,000 commissioners. In reality, we do have I believe over 20,000 commissioners; they are called voters in case you have forgotten. As Mr. Robert has said from time to time on this venue, a person can find out real quickly how popular they are in the eyes of the voters of Bladen by throwing their hat in the ring when filing time comes. That time until election day is the time that the 20,000 or so "commissioners" make up their minds as too "how popular or good a job the candidates" are doing. The rest of the time we leave it up to the folks "we the people" have elected. Since you are concerned about how taxpayer dollars are being spent, maybe you need to talk to your democrat cohorts about reducing the number of commissioners back to 5 instead of the current 9. If you want to talk about how taxpayers are being spent, that is a great place to. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE.

I could be wrong, but I thought the county "books" were already being audited ever so many years. According to your fixation with things in Bladen, you would probably question the figures of the audit. And of course. the coming year budget will be discussed by our elected commissioners this coming Monday evening; surely a man in your position can schedule a three day weekend and show up as a taxpayer. that is if you can get "pops" to get our pipeline going full steam again. Would hate for you to get caught without any fuel and be stranded between Bladen and Mecjklenburg. If you will keep up Billy, you will see very plainly who the real enemy of our democracy is currently, and it is being headed up by your friend "pops". Most of you dems are still consumed with hatred of President Trump that you think he is still the head of our democracy. Go back and check out the "real" facts and you will see who was responsible for Jan. 6th; in the final analysis it is the Congress of the United who will not listed to the voters of this nation.

As far as the race of Sally Salter, you are the one who questioned her race. What was that you were saying about "racist bigots". Billy, "Come to the light tis shinning for thee"

GC, I don't understand why you would refer to the Vice President of the United States in the same sentence with a Dog. You also referred to her as a Black Woman who is a heartbeat away from being President. Brad questioned my inquiry about the Taxpayer funds that fund a private Company designed to take the load off of our County Commissioners. There are tens of thousands of dollars provided by Bladen County Commissioners. Shouldn't a public independent Accounting firm do a detailed audit and publish the results. Brad also mentions any interest in facts seems to be because Republicans are involved. The recent history and current actions by Republican Party members definitely begs for clarity. Currently the Republicans are attacking Democracy all across America and worshipping a man who instigated an attack on 2 branches of the US Government.

Yes if the Tories are dumb enough to attack America they aren't smart enough to remember the Battle of Elizabethtown where 300 to 500 dim witted Tories we defeated by 40 to 60 American Patriots, including one Woman. I wonder what Sally Salter's race was GC ?

What if she was Black like Vice President Harris? It only matters to racist bigots.

If you would put some thought behind your posts and lay out your reasoning I would gladly debate you. That is what this should be about. Take Herb's last response to my post for example. Billy, seems you like most of your party do not read the final outcome of current events. Oh sure, they take the fake news reports and run with them; then they find out the truth and brush it aside and go on to the next fake news item. You do know that the police officer that died because of the happenings at the Capital in January had health conditions that led to his death, you do know that the Capital police had requested additional help from the HOUSE SPEAKER of your party, and you do know that many of the people in Washington that day had in filtrated the peaceful protesters that were there to hear President Trump speak. NO, you still take the false narrative that a riot was incited. You believe that people of your party have the right to question election results(aka Al "climate change" Gore) but not Republicans. Surely you do believe believe that Americans whether democrat or Republican have a right to stand up for their rights. Even you, have spoken to that point that you being a "taxpaying citizen" of Mother Bladen have a right to speak about issues that involve how your tax dollars are spent. Would you have us believe that you don't have that right?

Get a grip Billy, one can not relive past wars or events. The time of the whigs and tories is over; there are monuments every where that attest to that fact. Step forward into the present. There is a "time machine" Billy and it is called time. We are current living in the year of our Lord 2021 on the 13 day of the month of May . You can't see the forest for the trees, you can't see the milk for the cows, and you can't see current day events because you are hung up on days long gone by as you rehash the battles of the whigs and tories. Why don't you put on your uniform and come join in the next celebration commemorating the Tory Hole next time it is commemorated. If you do, you will probably be found sitting on the banks of the Cape Fear River thinking about those events while people who are living in the present will have taken their uniforms off and went back to their current life.

How are you liking those fuel prices up in Charlotte? Another false narrative that has people loading up on fuel and thereby causing place that sell it to cut their lights off and putting 000.0 per gallon on their signs. And look, "pops" is President and haven't heard the first word from the news media that would have crucified President Trump if it happened on his watch. What will "pops" do, what will he do? Oh, that's right; he will call his tories, like "Billy" to take care of it; while he sits in the oval office and thinks about when he close a pipeline that was to bring fuel down from Alaska. Billy, please don't pass those fuel price increases on to you customers; that would be an impeachable offence by the leaders of your party. Oh, that is one other thing that your party carried to the max; they impeached the President of the United States BUT he was found INNOCENT.

Billy, Do you do all the mechanical work on all the rigs you put on the road? Do you check all rigs out and in as they go out daily? Do you do the repair work on the rigs that have been in an accident? And I'm sure there are other chores that go with putting rigs on the road and keeping them there. NO NO NO. Other employees are assigned those those jobs. Wonder how many you have run through down through the years. AND of course one of your major jobs would to check out what kind of vehicles those employees were driving. Probably VW's while your were sporting Lexus or Caddy's. You should have better sense than to question the number of employes any business owner has or what kind of vehicles they drive. Oh, I forgot you are a democrat and you folks tend to make those type decisions for the business owners of our great country. Nice try at deflection Billy, but the American taxpayer and voter will not be duped anymore. They did succumb to the "adsentee ballots" scheme in the last election BUT that is being investigated and corrected fully. I'm sure the democrats are already thinking up other schemes to try and dupe the voters again. Why even here in NC they head election official has already come out and said the elections this year should be moved to next year. Ain't going to work. The Republicans will take the Senate and House back next year and then the Presidency in 2024. So far the dems have done everything imagineable to destroy the country we love under the "leadership" of your "pops". And now he says the pipeline fiasco is classified by him as "just something people do". Of course, being a "big time democrat business owner" you may have been tipped off by "pops" to store you up some extra fuel to keep you rigs on the road. And on top of this one of the first actions "pops" took as President was to shut down a pipeline and do away with thousands of jobs. By the way Billy, it is an excellent tine for you to borrow money because your party says borrowed money "debts" do not have to be repaid".

Billy 2, who taught you that hatred was the way to go in life. Not a single one of your family that I know and have known down through the years was an advocate of hatred. Don't think the people who remember you from this area believe that hatred is the way to go. NO, it is the party to which you belong that has taught you that hatred is the way to go. If stocks ever come back as a form of "hatred" and "humiliation"; it will be for people like you who have "publicly" stated you "hate" people. Think about it Billy, this thing of hatred in present day politics was fostered by people of your party starting about the time when President Trump threw his hat into the ring for President. On every occasion possible they sought out times to foster that hatred. Your party bought it lock, stock, and barrel; though some "great political figures" such as Waters, Pelosi, Schumer, Nadler, etc. AND now you on this public forum have stated the same "hatred. Congratulations Billy, you are "gaining friends and gaining influence" among your peers in political circles. It is just that those peers and circles DO NOT reside in NC. Voter suppression INDEED; it is just the opposite by your "pops" on the southern border. Your party has become the party of HATRED and has as much as stated so during the last several years and it is apparent you have bought into it big time. Of course, there is still hope Billy; move your party affiliation if not to REPUBLICAN at least to UNAFFILIATED.

You have as much as declared war on the citizens of the UNITED STATES of America. Who do you think America is? Surely, you do not think that America is its military, you evidently think it is yours, but in reality America belongs to and is the CITIZENS OF OUR GREAT NATION. Surely you learned that in elementary school in the old "farmers schoolhouse" on what is now the Bladenboro MIddle School campus. People, at least many of them do know who I am in Bladen County; your family still remembers the Billy that left Mother Bladen years ago but most of Bladen County doesn't know you because you have become someone who does not even remotely resemble the Billy that left years ago. Get back to your roots Billy, there is still hope. You have become the type person that instead of getting Bladenboro above the flood plain, would go over to where the Big Swamp leaves Bladen County, and build a dam to make sure it is continually inundated by flood waters of future hurricanes. Bladen county no longer needs backward thinking people; we need people with the proper forward thinking philosophies that will cause Bladenboro and Bladen County to flourish and grow. May God continue to bless us with such people.

At what point is the media culpable for what is going on with gas. It is like yelling fire in a movie theater because you find a box of matches. They create dramatic headlines and cause panic. Now many gas stations in the state and surrounding states are out of gas. There was plenty of gas until the pipeline was to come back online. But thanks to the panic now the fuel trucks can't keep pace. Anything to increase the number of clicks on their website I guess.

Several of the problems you mention are likely to be supply chain problems that have their origin in shutdowns that began with the Covid Pandemic. When I look at the death rate on 1/18/21 I see we were at about 3000 deaths per day, whereas today we seem to approaching 500 per day. So that is at least a bit better.

Have things improved since Biden took office?

Prices
Wood is up 127%
Steel is up 35%
Natural Gas is up 15%
Gasoline is up 38%
Crude Oil is up 22%

March inflation rate was the highest since February of 2013.

NC just declared a state of emergency for gasoline and the lines are backed up into the streets at many stations in Bladen County this afternoon. Local gas prices predicted to be $4.00/gallon be the end of the week.

Shortages in commodities and other goods such as electronics.

One other statistic....
We had a 400% increase in illegal immigrant encounters at the border in March 2021 compared to March 2020.

If we can have this much fun in less than 5 months, I wonder what the next 43 months will bring.

Billy, if what you post was not tempered by your hatred of President Donald Trump; you would be making some headway, but hatred never makes a headway on anything. Us folks who have remained in Bladen county throughout our lives, I dare say have a lot more appreciation for this beloved county. Instead of waiting for Bladenboro to be inundated again with water from storms; the people of Bladenboro and Bladen County are working in tandem to improve the town and get the new construction up above the flood plain and I understand are using local folks to do the demolition work. While other folks who have left Bladenboro and Bladen county far behind question everything that goes on in the county. WE have a good county, its leadership borders between "good" to "great" and the same goes for the town leadership. The sooner we all, those still in Bladen and those who once lived here and were born and bred here, get on board for the betterment of Mother Bladen, the better all will be. Seems there is an old saying that goes something like this, if one can't say something good then one should not say anything at all. Seems that is good advice for one and all.

Thank God for the showers of rain blessings that have been falling on the dry thirty earth that is Bladen County. Prayer warriors of Bladen are aware of all the many needs of the folk in Mother Bladen and are lifting them up to the heaven Father God each day. Once again, thank God for the showers that have fallen and will continue to fall. Is that a cloud that has the form of a mans hand I see on the horizon? Lord let it be.

The answer to the question about how covid 19 deaths are recorded can be found through the offices of the county and state health directors. If a person that was born in Bladen and has been living for many years in Mecklenburg for or any other county of NC dies with covid 19 it is my understanding their death would be put in the numbers of covid 19 deaths for the county they have been living in; if however, the resident of one county is hospitalized in another county for treatment and they pass away, then their death would become part of the deaths in the county they were living. Again, the specifics of covid 19 deaths can be answered by the health directors of individual counties or the state.

One has to wonder if workers in the health industry of our state really are concerned about where the patient is from as they rightfully are about getting the patient well and back home to their families.

May God grant that there would not be another death from covid 19 in our beloved state.

Brad, transparency is truth. Another question that I have on the Covid 19 Pandemic effect on Bladen County. Are the deaths reported derived from people who passed in Bladen County proper or total Bladen Citizens who have died in other counties included ?

To add additional narrative to my last post, the one statistic that the government leaders and the press want to focus on is race and how Covid-19 is killing African Americans at a greater clip than others. Well, one conclusion that someone could reach is that African Americans are 1.3 times more likely to have a BMI of 30 or greater than Non-Hispanic Whites. That may not be the sole factor in the numbers, but you can bet that it is a large contributing factor.

However, all anyone wants to do these days is to classify people by race. We can no longer be called a boy or a girl, but we can separate people by race for every single problem in life. I am pretty tired of it myself. Growing up in Bladen County I have had friendships with people of all races. Living abroad, I have created friendships with people from other cultures and nationalities. Unlike numerous other countries, people in the United States can be successful no matter what their race or culture. It is what makes this country so great and why people are coming here in vast numbers. We need to stop looking at each other by the color of our skin and look at each other for who we are. Some of the best people that I know don't look like me, and we are so much more alike than we are different.

What Billy won't acknowledge is that Trey specifically mentioned the Board of Education with the transparency article. Even though that Board is lead by Democrats, Billy feels the need to somehow blame Republicans.

Speaking of transparency, why is it that they won't release the age brackets for 22 of the 41 people who unfortunately passed in Bladen County due to the Covid-19 virus? We have no idea what age group is for over half of the deaths. Also, in a time where some people are being criticized for placing sick folks in facilities where the elderly reside, why can't we find good numbers for people that reside in those facilities in NC? I see that we have one outbreak at a facility in the county currently. If the numbers shown are correct it amounts to 37% of the current active cases.

We have a massive campaign to do things like where masks, get vaccines, limit capacities, etc., but we don't have all of the data. How can I make a good decision regarding my health? Am I to just shut up and do what the government tells me is best for me? The same government that created eating guidelines that contributed to more heart disease and obesity.

Dr. Ancel Keys created a study in response to the growing heart attack issues in this country. He was very popular even appearing on the cover of time magazine. Using his flawed study he convinced the government to publish guidelines saying that saturated fat is deadly and we should eat more grains (carbohydrates). Never mind that half of the population was smoking cigarettes as it must be the fat. Well, where did that get us? We are now sicker, overweight, and dying from all kinds of diseases that were not an issue in the 1960s. Now, Keys' research is widely criticized as flawed and many new studies show that saturated fat has no increase or decrease in the probability of a heart attack. However, sugar which was pumped into the food when the fat was removed, is a contributing factor to diabetes, strokes, and heart attacks.

I mention that because right now we have another influential doctor who is telling people what is best for Covid-19. This doctor is in the press just as Dr. Keys was. Competing theories from other doctors are being suppressed by all forms of media just as in Keys' day. How do we know in 50 years we don't look back and say how wrong we all were? Show us the data government. We are not dumb people who can't make informed decisions about our own health. The only logical reason that I can think of that government would suppress data is because is doesn't fit the narrative that they are pushing. Just tell us an age range for all deaths and what the housing type was? I would also love to know the average BMI of individuals who passed, especially those below the age of 50. This is data that they have to know.

The democrat party has left not only many voters and tax payers in Bladen County but also many members of your family who used to vote democrat and now vote Republican. Based what has been going on so far in "pops" administration, my guess would be that even more people in Bladen County, North Carolina, and the United States of America will be coming on over to the Republican Party while leaving the Party that has left them.

Trey Johnson's article about Goverment transparency is spot on . It reminded me of the recent County Commission Chairman's response when other Commissioners presented a written concern that stated that Healthcare is impacted greatly by racism. The Chair refused to further proceed with the concern, stating that the request was not written correctly.

That was a tremendous opportunity to discuss the concerns presented. That was a perfect time to discuss fellow Bladen citizen's needs. May Bladen County never elect another Republican again.🤔

Steel prices continuing to surge. Yesterday's price for Hot Rolled Coil Midwest was $72.67 cwt. In November it was $34.82 and it was $22.89 in August. A couple of years ago it hit $45 and high volume steel consumers were freaking out.

I recently learned that the wood prices are also linked to imports from Canada. Those are down by 1/3 either because of the pandemic or their own wood needs. Either way, wood prices keep climbing.

Crude prices saw a little dip in March, but are trending up this month.

I know the idea of raising teacher pay sounds great, but where does that money come from. We have created an environment in this state through low taxes that is business friendly. Apple just chose NC as it's 1st location on the East Coast. Do we increase taxes on businesses only to see them flee to SC, GA or TX. Bladen County is not an area like Meck. or Union Counties where home prices are easily $300k to $750k. We are in a depressed portion of the state and we need more manufacturing to move here so that our residents can get blue collar jobs that pay well. Increasing taxes is the last thing we need to do in a period of inflation.

Billy, don't forget those custodians deserve at least the salary of highway patrolmen if as you believe that teachers deserve the same salary as doctors and lawyers. If a bill recently introduced in the NC Legislature becomes law it is my understanding that a lot of the money it will generate will go to education. This law would allow gambling on sports teams like the Panthers, Hornets, and Hurricanes. We are pretty close to being a state that is filled with drunks; so pretty soon, we will be state filed with gamblers. Drunks and gamblers makes for a great citizenry. Not to worry though, the teachers making as much as lawyers and doctors will be able to steer those impressionable young away from those type of activities, or will they?

Brad, you are spot on about the elevating cost of living. For the life of me I don't understand how some do not think our Educators deserve a pay increase.

Our Educators have spent the last year during a Pandemic teaching our most precious in ways they never fathomed. When I mention Educators I mean every soul involved from our Custodians to the County Administration. Takes a Village of people to Teach our children and Grandchildren.

Our Educators should be rewarded instead of denied .

It looks like we are in for a bumpy ride these next few months. For those that need every cent of the dollar they earn, they are starting to find that the dollar doesn't go as far as it did last year. Typically, this happens to the tune of 2.4%, but the next year or so could see inflation much higher. This is due to 3 key materials, steel, wood, and plastic.

We have all seen gas prices increase over the last few months, but we rarely link the cost of oil to plastics. Plastic is in just about everything we use today so increases in oil prices will affect the cost of those goods to an extent.

If any of you have tried to purchase wood lately you will see the price per board has doubled. This is due to the do-it-yourselfers during the pandemic and then a high volume of new home startups. This has reduced the supply while the demand is still high. New homes builds don't appear to be letting up so expect wood prices to stay high through the foreseeable future.

Unless you deal with it, you may not know that steel pricing is up more than double since October. I buy products that are steel and the prices are only good for 5 days. This is because the price is increasing so rapidly companies can't afford to hold their prices much longer than that. Steel prices are expected to ease in Q2 of this year, but we have yet to see it. Steel demand is still high as companies are recovering from the pandemic and are building with and buying more steel. Some steel is actually being rationed out in the US do to scarcity.

However, it is not all doom and gloom. Kimberly Clark is reporting that toilet paper sales are down so maybe we can get a little break on that in the future or at least we don't have to worry about it not being on the shelves.

Once again Governor Cooper is tying our economy and people's livelihoods to requiring the vaccine. It was reported that Cooper said if 2/3rds of North Carolinians receive at least 1 dose of the vaccine that he will allow businesses to open fully on Jun 1st. So Mr. Governor, what if 2/3rds of North Carolinians don't take the vaccine? Will you keep your authoritarian rules in place indefinitely? Why not tie it to hospitalization rates, infections, or deaths? The reason these lockdowns went into place was to prevent overwhelming hospitalizations. Why not make that the determining factor? I am sure there are no other reasons why Cooper is doing this. Except maybe there is....

According to an article published on 11/18/2020 by ABC News, "A North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson told ABC News that the state has been allocated $5.9 million from the federal government for vaccine response so far and anticipates another $3-4 million in additional funds; still, they believe they will need approximately $30 million for its vaccination management and distribution efforts."

So how much money has NC received so far? How much would they need to give back if the vaccines are not widely distributed? How would Cooper look if his state was one of the states receiving the fewest percentages of vaccines? This has nothing to do with the health and well being of our communities, but everything to do with the perception, greed and power in Raleigh.

As of today NC, is 36th out of 50 states as a percentage of citizens receiving at least one dose. They also had a 15% decline from last week in doses administered. We are currently at 37% and Cooper is pushing for 67% to allow businesses to open fully. Well folks, I believe come June the groundhog that sits in Raleigh will see his Covid-19 shadow and businesses will be in for 6 more weeks of lockdowns.

Americans are still succumbing to the covid 19 virus to the at number of 712 per day over the past 12 days. that is with the vaccines, the mask, social distancing, and washing of hands. There have been 182,401 deaths from the virus since January 20, 2021 inauguration day for "pops" as Billy Butler likes to call him. At this rate, we will eclipse the 600,000 mark in another 25 or so days. Which means by September or October as many people will have died of covid 19 in eight months under President Biden as died under the last 12 months of President Trumps administration. One difference, no media outrage. Wonder why? By the way, hope and pray these numbers under President Biden DO NOT materialize.

"There is no relief". So says the chairwoman of the Bladen County Board of Elections. She is exactly right as long as there is a democrat party majority on the board. Don't worry, Mark Robinson will take care of that in 2022 provided he runs for Governor.

Billy, have you ever even given any length of "thought" as to why there has not been any convictions relating to elections in Bladen County after all these years of "supposedly election fraud or voter fraud". Give it some real serious thought Billy. After doing that maybe a light bulb will go off in your head and you will understand that most cases of this nature are brought to trial as soon as the prosecution gets "enough" facts to win the case. It has bee on going for a lot of years with ZERO convictions. You see Billy, there has to be evidence to get a conviction. That is unless you are of the same persuasion as Maxine "Waterhead" one of the leaders of your notorious "convict or we will make you sorry. To Mr. Robert G Hester, "Thoughts While Shaving" April 14, 2021 edition. Really appreciate you mentioning the Fifth Sunday Night Singings. Those were some very good years while the singing lasted. Would like to say that the Rev. James "Billy" Hardee pastor of Oak Grove OFWB church was the emcee of the singing for many years. As best as I can remember, Singletary Baptist Church over across Big Swamp in Robeson county, Zion Hill Baptist Church out north of Bladenboro, Oak Grove OFWB Church north of Bladenboro, Sandy Grove Baptist Church north of Bladenboro, and Shady Grove Baptist Church out from Abbottsburg were the churches that participated during those years. Oh my, did we have some good times of fellowship and worship of God through Christian music in those singings. There were great talented singers in the churches. All the choirs were great. I espeically remember he piano players for the choirs and others who sang. In the later years of the singing I believe the pastor of the local church where the singing was held became the emcee. Not sure exactly why the singing ceased to be in existence but God surely used it as a blessing to many people while it was going.

One final note. If you want to attend a singing that operates along the same outline, Pireway OFWB Church down passed Nakina operates about the same way. Mostly local talent, but if you would like to drive down there; i'm sure they would warmly welcome you. It currently operates at 7 pm on, you guessed it Fifth Sunday Nights. They usually have some person that attends the church that can play about any song you might want to sing on the guitar or piano.

While I was working at a national liberal newspaper company in the Northeast they had that same kind of mentality. It typically means that if you mess with one of us the rest will make it so that there is little to no production. Then management would come down on the supervisor and blame him for the lack of production. The union members had a little saying there as well and it was "Everything moves on green." Gift giving is a big business up there. I've seen gifts as large as $20k to the union chief. So when the grievance comes through from the union member they are told that the issue is not a big deal and to leave it alone. some know the game and play accordingly while others struggle. If there was a consensus among the group that some overtime pay was needed, magically there would be sheet breaks blamed on bad paper that would take 4 to 5 hours to fix. Naturally, these happened around middle of November and into December. However, things ran smooth Thanksgiving day and always in the summer. Must have been the cold I guess. Except you would see pennies on the floor during the same time frame. You see when there are 6 rows of printing presses with paper pulled tight across 5 stories high. It doesn't take much to cause a paper break. Watching a roll of paper wound up 5 stories high breaking loose is a heck of a mess and sight. Everyone knew what was going on as it was just a part of the game. Starting salary for a printing pressman in 2003 was $45/hr. at this facility. A few hours of overtime for 2 to 4 weeks would pay for a nice Christmas for the family. So no harm right. So what if they worked a little over. Well, management just passed those costs on to the consumer because they aren't changing their margins. This isn't the case with all unions. Some are good, but others have some interesting dynamics.

BTW, I made really good friends with those guys and they are good people. They just had a system in place since forever and they knew how to work that system to better themselves.

Years ago in a State far away, I had a highly skilled machinist and strong Union man as a neighbor. I remember his saying “The boss may yell and the boss may scream, but he is going to do it respectfully!!”. I could not help but ask why, his reply was “I am a Union Man and he knows I do not stand alone!”. Which makes me pretty certain that one of the reasons for being a Union Man is not only financial, but also self respect.

I love the talk about minimum wage. I like the discussions of wage in general. Let me ask you this, William? If an employee anywhere in the United States is unhappy with their wage, why don't they get a higher wage job? I would love to hear your answer because I think we both know the reason. There are numerous job listings in the county and in the country that pay higher than $15 per hour. Why are these minimum wage dependent workers not going to get one? We have a national shortage of factory labor. Good paying jobs with benefits.

As for unions, I have nothing against them. I have been around them since I began my career. They had very promising beginnings in this country, but often times there is corruption and very limited value for the employee. Bribery and corruption can be found in many unions. I have seen people paid off to prevent grievances. You want to know how the USPS bleeds money, go spend some time in a Distribution Center. Don't get me wrong the people are good people, but they also know how to work the system.

I really don't care if teachers joined a union or not. I think it will just hurt the kids and the teachers just end up with more out of pocket to pay dues. I don't think most of the teachers are at fault with the schools either. It is like every other job where 99% are good and 1% are really terrible. The bureaucracy in the public schools is the problem for the most part. You have overpaid administrators who push curriculum requirements. You have standardized testing to push requirements. No teacher chose to do twice the work this past year. As far as teacher pay goes teachers do ok when you put the salary, insurance, and retirement benefits together. I mean it isn't what a lawyer or a doctor makes, but life is about choices. This is not a society where people are forced into a profession. It is also not like someone said, "Hey, go be an educator because the pay is fabulous." Their job is tough and I would never want to do it, and that is why I don't do it.

We are already seeing inflation with goods such as steel, wood, and oil products. Lets go ahead and increase taxes along with the minimum wage. Put another $2 trillion log on the debt fire and increase corporate tax on companies that will offshore. You know once we double the minimum wage those folks can pay more taxes, and we can fund better salaries for teachers. Now that is some Democratic thinking. You folks better get rested up so you can wait in the bread lines as Biden is going to put a chicken in everyone's pot.

Billy, have you ever heard of frugal living? You did some of it as you were growing up on a dairy farm in Bladen County. Remember back, did your Dad and Mom go out and buy a new vehicle every year? Did you eat steak every day? Did you leave the lights on all day and night? Think you get the picture. Did your Dad pay those farm workers that helped him on the farm; the same salary he made?

You will be surprised what a man can live off of. Try it now while you can, and see. All minimum wager earners need to do to double their income is to get a second minimum wage job.

Your comment about the rent for a single bedroom apartment reminded me of some thing that is happening in Bladen County. Many parcels of land are being inherited by children that have left Bladen County and are living else where. When they inherit the parcels of land here, guess what they do? They place ask an asking price on the parcels based on the value of the same size parcels in in the large cities in which they are currently living. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. Of course, one good thing about this is that when people want to come back to Bladen County to retire or move here to live; they fine the cost of living much lower. It is easy to find out Billy since you are a tax payer in Bladen County; that means you own some property here. How does that the value of that property compare with the same size property in Charlotte or Mecklenburg County?

The minimum wage worker is usually very young, still living at home, in school, with very little if any financial obligations. If you want to pay that worker the same wage as you would an employee that has been with you for years, is married, and has financial obligations; more power to you. It will not work over the long haul. You are correct about taking care of employees and any business owner that is worth a "grain of salt" will do that because he sees the benefit to his employees and his business, Therefore, the need for unions is none existent today as opposed to the days of seat shop labor.
Noticed you said the "need for a higher minimum wage", not doubling it right off the bat. You do know that businesses, any business; that payroll of employees in directly related to the services that business supplies. In other words, if a man owns a trucking outfit that gets goods from one point to another; it is obvious that the price of fuel is one of the biggest expenses that business has. So here comes along "pops" and the price of fuel goes up $2.00 per gallon. Don't tell me you are going to go "truckin along" and not make some adjustments to what you are going to have to charge to get those goods from one point to another. As the saying goes, "come on man". In other words, an increase in wages will always call for a higher price for services provided.

Why is Bladen County Schools Enrollment Declining?

In my first article in the series’It Takes the Entire Village’ I highlighted the fact that nearly 600 students who live in Bladen County do not attend Bladen County Schools. Ladies and gentlemen that is enough students to fill multiple K-8 schools. In fact, that’s roughly the size of one of our high schools.

So let’s talk about the ‘why’ because most of us have certainly made some important changes in our lives, be it personal or professional but one thing is probably true about that change. We were looking for something better. Looking for something better translates to we were no longer happy or satisfied with the current situation.

That number of 600 students will continue to grow unless we address the ‘why’ because you can not ignore it. Parents now have multiple options for schooling their children. We have to address the ‘why’ with a vision and purpose to correct whatever is causing the unsatisfactory reasons for students to leave Bladen County Schools. I completely understand that there will be attrition but in a county of our size we can hardly afford our attrition rate to be hovering around 15%. So why are families opting out of Bladen County Schools? Surely, I do not have any data to back up my reasoning but the most obvious answer is a lack of satisfaction. You see, most people look for change based on what you are doing wrong. They leave not because the next place is really better but only perceived to be better based on a word from a family member, a neighbor or even a friend. It’s a competition and parents are going to chose what they think is best for their kids. We all do.

When charter begin advertising to open it doors, they were advertising all across the county. I was really surprised that Bladen County Schools had no plan or even no desire to launch it’s own campaign stressing why parents should keep their children in Bladen County Schools. The charter schools had a strategic focus to get their school up and running by appealing to families who were no longer satisfied with Bladen County Schools. For the most part Bladen County Schools accepted that fact and accepted those losses.

The losses have to stop because the enrollments are continuing to decline and eventually more schools will be shuttered due to extremely low enrollment numbers. More and more families will make the choice to move out of Bladen County for the sake of their children. We are an aging community and it’s important to keep our younger population here in Bladen while providing a high quality public education. We need to figure out the ‘why’ and stop our losses. Do things right, do things better and watch them start to come back home. We must work on solutions that benefits our students in Bladen County Schools. Everyone loves coming back home. That’s something that brings us together.

GC, right now in America the minimum wage will not pay the rent for a single bedroom apartment. I applaud Pops' insistence on the need for a higher minimum wage.

You must remember that the effort is only for minimum wage increase. Companies that can't take reasonable care of their associates should not be in business to begin with.

Billy, but what if the democrat administration currently in power says you got to double the wage of your employees even if it is already double what other employers are paying? Think you have had a bad payroll day. And I'm sure you bring in drivers and start them off at what your drivers are making that have been with you for years and years. It makes no sense. Better yet, why not pay them a starting salary equal to your salary. After all, based on the democrat philosophy, employees should not have to work their way up through the system to get a higher salary. In other words, why doesn't the democrat administration just go ahead and send every taxpayer a check for one million dollars and do away with the idea, if a man won't work neither let him eat. Since you left Bladen County and got up to the Charlotte area with the big boys, something or someone has filled your mind with the wrong economics of how life works. You are living in a system that is made up of all "chiefs" and no "braves". Wonder what happens in that kind of system when the "chiefs" disagree with one another. Seems "pops" is already having some trouble with some of his beginning to disagree and resign. WHY WORK WHEN ONE CAN STOP WORKING AND RECEIVE A CHECK FROM "pops" organization. There is coming an end Billy and I don't think you are going to like what it brings.

Have you forgotten so soon Billy, there was an election held in 2020 and the democrats are in total control of the government. Evidently, they do not believe what they spout off from their mouth; if they did, teachers would be earning what doctors and lawyers are earning. NOT. Because democrats don't believe what they say; they just want everybody else to believe it. Sure hope those thousands of employees you managed were ALL making the same salary, else you have been speaking with a forked tongue. Teachers making the same as doctors and lawyers AND "managers of thousands of employees"; don't think so. Under your system and that of democrats, what are School Superintendents going to think about their teachers earning the same salary they earn? You absolutely do not believe what you are saying. Nice try though.

By the way Billy, how do you feel about illegal aliens getting the checks and some American taxpayers are not getting them. And please contact "pops" and tell him to not raise taxes on all tax payers. If everyone is earning the same salary; surely every taxpayer will be required to pay the same salary. Of course, "pops" could care less with all that money coming to him and his son from Ukraine. Is "pops" giving his salary to charity? Is the VP making the same salary as "pops"? Could go on and on; suffice it to say the system you and other democrats want to put in place will not work because it has never worked and never will work.

GC, I've been a Union member and also managed open shop facilities for a fortune 500 company with thousands of employees. If a company takes care of it's employees the employees don't need to unionize. I've always paid my employees more than the other similar companies, especially in Transportation. The other companies always seemed to be desperate for Drivers while My company always had a waiting list for people wanting to be a part of my company. Yes, until the Republicans figure out how to decifer cost/worth when it comes to Educators and all other essential personnel to properly educate, feed, transport the Most precious ones there will be people like me who will not abandon our public school system and the people who are it's lifeblood.

Teachers proper should be paid equal to our Attorneys and Doctors, not a penny less!

The "SAME" should have been followed by hatred in my last post.

Guess the "tremendous Plague that is killing people world wide" is over since Billy Butler has jumped back into the political fray by suggesting that our teachers "join a strong union". Begs the question, are Billy's rig drivers members of a "strong" union? Got news for you Billy, Pops" as you like to refer to the current President of the United States; has absolutely nothing to do with teachers and their pay other than they must be paid at least the minimum wage. It is true that teachers are not among the highest paid professions in our nation but by the same token they are by no means the lowest paid. May be mistaken but I believe your wife is in that profession; wonder if your concern would be of such a stellar nature if she was not. You can always hire her as one of your rig drivers; of course she might have to take a pay cut to be hired by your outfit. You are right about one thing, it is Republicans or democrats 'at the state legislature level" that determine teacher pay or in some cases boards of education at the local level can throw a stipend into their pay to lure them to a local school district.

All your comment about President Trump shows that you have the SAME for him that the great majority of democrats have had since he was elected. Pardon me, believe Nancy Piglosi said she had never hated anyone; strange words coming out of the mouth of one of the absolutely worst politicians of our time. The only one that would give her a run for her money on that count would be Chucky "Woodchuck" Schumer over in the Senate. By the way, just what would you call allowing record numbers of illegal aliens into our nation on the southern border? By the end of Pops only term in office, I suspect that even all those illegal voters who cast ballots for him will regret it.

By the way Billy, the "tremendous Plague" is not over and our teachers are doing just fine.

Trey, you are spot on !

I think that Our Teachers should join the teamsters or another strong Union. You may be taking the long and winding road around . Nice doesn't mean a thing to the Republicans who make and force their draconian ideology on America's Educators and support staff including the Cafeteria, Bus drivers and maintenance staff.

These people are arguably in the top tiers of our Democracy and should be compensated 10 fold and defended against the lunacy of the GOP in today's needs.

It is becoming more obvious by their Art Pope philosophy. Look no further than their demand that NC Teachers return to class without having had their Covid vaccinations. American Workers now have a seat at the Table .
Thanks Pops!

Never elect a Trump Republican. Uncle Sam detestes traitors.
