Kelly Dwayne Hamilton has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Crystal Lynn McLamb, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Hamilton, 44, was taken into custody Friday night. He is in Bladen County Jail.
A man who identified himself as Hamilton called the 911 center at 3:02 a.m. Thursday about a shooting at a home on Ruby Kidds Road, off Singletary Mill Pond Road, near Bladenboro, Sheriff James McVicker said. Hamilton reported that McLamb, 44, had accidentally shot herself when she moved a loaded weapon that was lying on the coffee table as the two of them were watching a movie, McVicker said.
McLamb, who lived on Belvedere Avenue in Tar Heel, was pronounced dead at the scene by Bladen County Coroner Hubert Kinlaw. An autopsy was performed Friday.
Detectives continued to investigate the shooting Friday and a warrant was issued for Hamilton’s arrest Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
