Bladenboro native Hayley Baxley recorded her second pitching victory of the season Thursday as Barton College defeated Erskine College 5-2 in the second game of a softball double-header.
Baxley entered the game with a runner in scoring position and the score tied in the top of the second. The West Bladen grad pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to raise her record to 2-0 on the season.
Whiteville native Samantha Bass slugged a 2-run home run over the centerfield fence to cap a 3-run Barton rally in the bottom of the third inning as the Lady Bulldogs took the lead for good.
Liz White who lost an extra-inning duel in the opening game of the double-header picked up the save with 4 scoreless innings of relief.
Baxley has a 2-0 record with 10 pitching appearances and has worked 21.2 innings this season with a 3.88 earned run average.
