Mike-Smith-PitchesHarrells Christian Academy Varsity Baseball, seeded 4th, upset the #1
seeded Westchester Country Day school 4-2 on Tuesday in High Point.

Westchester Country Day was never able to get over the hump and get over
its troubles against HCA on Tuesday, as Westchester Country Day fell 4-2 at
Highpoint, NC after falling behind by three runs in the sixth inning.

Westchester Country Day scored one run in the sixth on an RBI double by
Shields. Still, Westchester Country Day couldn’t catch HCA.

Spencer Cooke did his best to jump-start the offense for HCA, reaching base four times. He singled in the first inning.

Michael Smith brought the heat against Westchester Country Day during
his outing. Westchester Country Day managed just three hits off of
Smith, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out two
during his five innings of work.

Michael Smith recorded the win for HCA. He allowed one run over two
innings. Smith struck out one, walked none and gave up three hits.

Polen was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked
four, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

The bottom of the second saw Westchester Country Day take an early lead,
1-0. Smith doubled to ignite Westchester Country Day’s offense. Then moved
Smith from second to third. Hearst singled, scoring Smith.

HCA didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the fifth inning
when it scored on An RBI double by Smith and an RBI single by Chance Bryant.

The championship series will be played this weekend. The HCA Crusaders will
face the winner of the Arendell Parrott Academy/Rocky Mount Academy game
which will be played tomorrow.
