The National Weather Service Office in Wilmington has issued a heat advisory for Bladen County from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 20th).

Heat index values are expected to reach 108 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are forecast to reach 96 degrees with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.

If you work outdoors, wear light colored clothing, drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in shaded areas or air conditioned rooms. Make sure livestock and pets have access to shade and fresh drinking water.
