The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Wednesday for Bladen County.
Heat index values are expected to reach between 105 and 108 degrees. The forecast high for today is 93 degrees. There is a slight chance for thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon. There is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon and that will increase to about 30 percent overnight Wednesday.
A heat advisory means hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. To reduce the risk of heat illness during outdoor work the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
