Heat index values on the rise this week

US-NationalWeatherServiceDangerous heat is forecast to continue through the week with heat indexes predicted to top 105 Tuesday through Friday. Temperatures are forecast to soar into the upper 90s each day.

According to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, no significant rainfall is in the forecast and no relief from the extreme heat is expected before the weekend.

While isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible, many places are forecast to stay dry through the weekend.

Folks who work out in the heat are encouraged to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Don’t forget to check on your elderly neighbors and make sure your pets have plenty of fresh water.
