Many are staying indoors during this last week of May. The extreme heat is forecasted to continue. The Wilmington National Weather Service center announced some facts about the weather for May 2019.

There were 20 days with temperatures above normal so far this month. Four days the high temperature broke the high temperature records. There were two days of rain with only 0.29 inches of rain, according to officials.

The forecast has today has temps being in the triple digits for some parts of the area, making today the hottest day during the May heat wave.

A couple more days of the intense heat wave are forecasted before a slight break with a chance of rain on Friday according to the weather officials.

Officials warn the public do not leave your pets and children in vehicles.
