Home Shot on Pone Loop Road

On Saturday, January 16, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots fired call on Pone Loop Road near St. Pauls. The homeowner advised that several people were in the yard when a vehicle passed and fired shots at the residence. According to the report, shots were then fired at the vehicle by a person in the home’s front yard, striking the car and causing it to go into the ditch.

Two suspects fled from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area off Pone Loop Road. Several deputies working in the area arrived on the scene and were able to locate and arrest the two suspects, identified as Jayce Cole Johnson and an unnamed juvenile. Recovered from the vehicle was a Smith and Wesson 9mm automatic pistol. A magazine to a pistol was located on the juvenile in his pants pocket when arrested. The gun was not recovered. 

Information was received that this incident was connected to a shooting that occurred in Tar Heel at the U Stop Gas Station on Monday, January 11, 2021. (see attached)

Jayce Cole Johnson, W/M/18, of Tar Heel Road, Tar Heel was charged with:

-Discharge weapon into an occupied dwelling.

-Possession of a weapon with an altered serial number.

-Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

-Placed in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $101,000.00 bond.

Juvenile, I/M/17, Tar Heel, was charged with:

-Discharge weapon into an occupied dwelling.

-The juvenile was turned over to Juvenile Services and transferred to Wilmington.
