Elizabethtown, NC – During the December Board of Education meeting, board members recognized student teams from East Bladen and West Bladen High schools that recently competed in the Regional District IV HOSA competition. Both high schools bringing home several top awards.

The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.

The following students from East Bladen High School earned regional awards at the competition:
·       4th place in Medical Terminology – Stephanie Putman
·       top 10 finish in Medical Terminology – Jazzman McKoy
·       3rd place in Prepared Speaking – Lauryn Burney
·       3rd place in Researched Persuasive Speaking – Kaythelia Luckey
·       5th place in Health Career Display – team of Jasmine Ransom & Malik Riggins
The following students from West Bladen High School earned regional awards at the competition:
·       serving as Regional Secretary – Quinton Edwards
·       1st place in Knowledge Test – Faith Crumel
·       2nd place in Health Career Display – team of Aileen Garcia and Glorimar Cruz
·       3rd place in Knowledge Test – Dasia Young
·       8th place in Health Career Display – team of Brianna Nance and Jenna Floyd
The advisor for East Bladen is Patti Nance. The advisors for West Bladen are Charlotte Davis and Mary Todd.
