Cape Fear Resource Conservation & Development, Inc., invites Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland and Sampson county residents and realtors to the Rural Housing Workshop. People who attend will learn how USDA’s Rural Home Loans may be able to help provide a path to home ownership for you, according to Cape Fear RC & D.

This workshop is designed to present information needed to help secure a home loan. The goal of these programs is to place low – and very-low income applicants into decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas by providing payment assistance in the form of a subsidy which reduces the mortgage payment for a short period of time according to H. Christina Mooney with Cape Fear RC & D.
Mooney explained, “Applicants must be without suitable housing and agree to occupy the property as their primary residence, and be willing and able to provide proof of income and credibility. Typically, no down payment is required and assistance is determined by adjusted family income. Homes must be modest in size (1,800 square feet or less), design, and cost, but still be able to meet the family’s needs.”
The program will be Tuesday, August 25th, from 1:30 pm until 4:00 pm at the Columbus County Center located at 45 Government Complex Drive, Suite A in Whiteville. For more information call (910)763-6611 or email hcm6842@uncw.edu.
