The 2017 Hurricane season is under way and forecasters project an active season. The time to prepare for a storm is before it arrives. There are steps you can take now to be ready when a storm does arrive on the North Carolina coast.
You can talk with your family and create an emergency plan. Make sure other family members know what to do in case of an emergency. You can also prepare an emergency kit that includes important papers, batteries, flash lights and other items you may need after the storm passes.
If you are asked to evacuate, know where the closest emergency shelter is located and have items prepared to take with you. The Healthy Bladen Collaborative has shared a flyer that lists the emergency shelters in Bladen County and their physical addresses.
