Emergency services staff at Southeastern Health’s Southeastern Regional Medical Center are urging the public to visit their family physicians or use local clinics for all health conditions not requiring emergency care.  Currently all staffed beds at Southeastern Regional Medical Center are occupied and patients seeking admission are facing delays. The medical center activated diversion mode earlier today due to filled capacity. This does not include obstetric, cardiac or stroke patients.

“We are seeing a very large population in our ER post-holiday,” said Emergency Services Medical Director Dr. John Reed. “Many patients seem to have put off treatment for a variety of conditions until after the holiday–trying to hang on until after Thanksgiving.”

SeHealth operates 14 primary care clinics throughout the region as well as one urgent care center in Pembroke, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and two walk-in clinics: Southeastern Health Mall Clinic within Biggs Park Mall, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and The Clinic at Walmart, open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., both in Lumberton.  All accept patients without an appointment.
