RALEIGH — Inmate Richard B. Dwyer died this morning at Lanesboro Correctional Institution after an apparent suicide. He was found unresponsive in his cell at about 10:15 a.m.Prison medical staff and local paramedics responded and worked to resuscitate the inmate, but were unsuccessful.
Dwyer was serving a 29-year sentence for statutory rape. He was scheduled to be released in April 2035.
