Mr. Harold Leon Ford a well respected native of Bladen County was celebrated on his birthday, Saturday May 4, because of all he has done throughout the years. Mr. Ford of Clarkton, is a US Army Veteran and served in the Korean War.

After Mr. Ford’s service in the armed forces, he returned to Bladen County. He taught at Booker T Washington School in Clarkton when it was a high school and later was assistant principal at Clarkton High School. He was also an accomplished basketball coach and football player.

Many were at the birthday celebration themed, “It’s Your Day” for Mr. Ford. Food, laughter and fellowship was had by all. Mr. Ford was presented with a certificate for his contribution to his community.

Gayle Buie, one of Ford’s former students wished Mr. Ford a Happy birthday and said, “You deserve it! You looked out for me a lot in school.”
