Bladen Community College, Dublin, NC The Small Business Center (SBC) of Bladen Community College is offering many great no-cost seminars and webinars in January.

The new “Online Non-Profit Academy” will be presented online via webinar and livestreamed on the Main Campus in Building 2 on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Participants who attend at least six of the eight part series will receive a certificate. The series will meet on the following dates:
– 1/21  How to Start a Non-Profit
– 1/28 Business Side of Non-Profits
– 2/04 How to File a 501c3
– 2/11 Developing Organizational By-Laws
– 2/18 Developing/Activating Your Board
– 2/25 Grant Writing Basics
– 3/03 Fundraising Basics for Non-Profits
– 3/10 Marketing Non-Profit on Social Media
Participants can register online: http://bit.ly/np2020academy for the first and be registered for the rest! However, non-profit leaders can attend any of the events online or on-campus as they need.

The Small Business Center is continuing outreach efforts with counseling at the Bladenboro branch of the Public Library. The Library is hosting director Todd Lyden on Wednesday January 15 th from 1-3 PM. The main branch library in Elizabethtown is hosting the fun seminar “There is Free Money to Start/Expand a Business but no Grants” on Thursday January 23 rd from 6-8 PM. There are government grants to assist businesses but rarely any to start. Learn where real opportunities exist to earn money to expand and sometimes start a business. Get the truth about grants and money for small business.

Finally, the only webinar of the month is a new topic: “How to Start a Business… the Right Way” presented online on Wednesday January 29 th from 6:30-8 PM. Most entrepreneurs start their new business uninformed and without any thought to licenses, permits, zoning, taxes, insurance, etc. Determine what licenses and permits you need, how to satisfy the IRS requirements, what records you need to keep, how to satisfy the NC Department of Revenue requirements, the legal structures available to you and more! If you have the proper knowledge, starting a new for-profit business often takes four hours or less! Invest a small amount of time in attending this online webinar and learn “How to Start a Small Business…the Right Way!”

All seminars and webinars are open to the public and provided at no charge due to special funding arrangements for the Small Business Center and Bladen Community College.
