Good morning! 3 things to know for Thursday, January 22

1. Looking for something to do this weekend? Join a park ranger at Jones Lake State Park on Saturday at 2 p.m. and learn about the geological mysteries of the Carolina Bays. Formation theories and the natural communities associated with Carolina Bays will be discussed. For information, call (910) 588-4550.

2. Trinity Methodist Church in Elizabethtown is having its annual oyster roast today beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the activity building. Cost is $40 per person. Boiled shrimp and clam chowder also will be served. Bladen Builders Supply has tickets if you’d like to buy in advance.

3. It seems the burial mask of King Tut had a close shave some time last year. The blue and gold braided beard on the mask was hastily glued back on with epoxy after it either fell off, was accidentally knocked off, or was loose and removed for repair, unidentified conservators at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo told The Associated Press. Unfortunately, there’s now a bit of a gap between the face and the beard it seems. However, it may be another 3,000 years before it falls off again.

And now you know.
