East Bladen grad Jazmine Kemp fired in 18 points Saturday to lead UNC-Pembroke to a 65-60 Peach Belt Conference victory over Young Harris in Young Harris, GA.
Kemp also collected 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The 5-10 senior connected on 8 of 13 shots from the field and sank both of her free throw attempts.
In the first half, Kemp dropped in a trio of lay-ups and popped in a jump shot as the Lady Braves built a 21-18 lead, but the Lady Mountain Lions rode a 16-8 spurt to a 34-29 halftime lead.
Kemp pumped in a jumper early in the second half that ignited a 33-13 Lady Brave surge. The Elizabethtown native worked her way free for a pair of lay-ups that put UNC-Pembroke on top 59-55 with 5:17 left to play.
Kemp nailed a jump shot with 1:31 on the clock to push the lead to 63-55, then canned 2 free throws with 36 seconds left to grow the UNC-P lead to 65-55.
The Lady Braves entertain PBC-East leader Lander Wednesday at 5:30.
