FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – West Bladen grad John Bowen dropped in the game-winning lay-up with 4 seconds remaining Saturday to lift Belmont Abbey to a 77-76 victory over Barton in the semi-finals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.

The Crusaders rallied from 13 points down to tie the game 72-72. DeQuan Abrom vaulted Belmont Abbey in front 75-74 with a 3-point play then after a pair of Barton free throws, Abrom delivered a pass to Bowen who put in the decisive lay-up.

Abrom led the Crusaders with 32 points, while Bowen made all 8 of his shots from the field to finish with 17 points in the game and also grabbed 5 rebounds.

The Crusaders, now 23-7, will play top seed Emmanuel, the host team, at 2 p.m. Sunday. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Bowen just missed a double-double in Belmont Abbey’s 82-72 quarterfinal win over Limestone with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
