East Bladen senior Jon Von Rupp has signed to play soccer this fall at Cape Fear Community College. Von Rupp scored 9 goals, dished out 5 assists and had 254 steals for the Three Rivers Conference champion Eagles.
“Jon showed a lot of maturity and growth throughout the season and was instrumental in our run to 17 straight wins and the third round of the play-offs,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor. “He brought a lot to the team and got better as the season went on.”
Raynor continued, “Jon was unselfish and willing to play out of position and do what was best for the team. He had an outstanding season.”
Coach C. W. Ponton’s Cape Fear Sea Devils posted a 6-7 record last season. Former East Bladen star Hastin McGill is an assistant coach at Cape Fear.
