Jones_kickingJones1Ray Jones won the longest field goal competition Sunday at the Ray Guy ProKicker.com camp held at Wingate University. Jones was the only kicker to successfully make his 40 yard field goal attempt during the competition. It was a kick that would have been good from 50 yards. He then attempted a 50 yard field goal, but came up just a few yards short.

Jones came within inches of winning the out of bounds right punt competition. Competitors attempted to kick the ball from the 50 yard line out of bounds to each sideline as close to the goal line as possible without it being a touchback. Jones’ final kick to the right hit the pylon at the goal line, which would be a touchback.

Jones spent Saturday and Sunday at the instructional and training camp for kickers, punters and long snappers. Camp sessions lasted seven hours each day.

Jones, who is a junior at West Bladen High School, was instructed by Ryan Guy, who is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame punter Ray Guy.

Ray Guy ProKicker.com camps are in their 20th year. Camps are held around the country. For information, visit ProKicker.com.
