Joyce Mason Puglia, 93, peacefully passed away at her home Friday, May 5, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 6, 1924 in Sanford, NC, Joyce was a daughter of the late Worth B. and Hurlie Adcock Mason. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Charles S. Puglia and her brother, Jack Mason.
Joyce was full of life and lived each day to the fullest! She was fortunate to live in many beautiful towns including: Elizabethtown, NC, Hound Ears Club, Blowing Rock, NC and Murrells Inlet, SC. An avid golfer, she was a member of Hound Ears Golf Club. Joyce also had a passion for reading; wanting to share that love with others, she was one of the founding members of the library at Hound Ears Club. Traveling and playing bridge were among her favorite past times. Undeniably, her most fulfilling days were spent with Project Linus where she had the pleasure of making blankets for critically ill children. She was a member of Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her children, Susan Smith (Aubrey) and Samuel Puglia (Linda); five grandchildren, Chris Smith (Eve), Patrick Smith (Missy), Matthew Smith (Jessi), Samantha Staats (Tom) and Jake Puglia (Nicole); eleven great grandchildren, Benton and Tyler Smith, Caroline, Mari and Grace Smith, Henry and Merritt Smith, Thomas and Alexandra Staats, and Treb and Annamarie Puglia; one brother, Worth Mason (Debbie) and her beloved dog, Chloe.
A graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Elizabethtown City Cemetery in Elizabethtown, NC.
