Clinton erupted for six runs in the second inning and went on to defeat West Bladen 9-1 on Friday afternoon in a Four County Conference game.

The Dark Horses collected six of their 12 hits in the second and batted around in opening a 7-1 advantage. West Bladen only had one runner reach as far as third base the rest of the game.

The Knights lone run came in the first when Shawn Oxendine walked, stole second, and scored on Johnathan Robinson’s double to deep right field. That tied the game at 1-all.

Ian Sykes pitched for West Bladen and gave up a dozen hits, six earned runs, struck out three and walked one.

Justin Nickel led the West Bladen offense with a pair of singles in three at-bats. Caleb Sholar and Sykes each had a single to go along with Robinson’s double.

Clinton tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning to account for the final score.

The West Bladen junior varsity is 12-9. The Knights will close out their season at Midway on Tuesday and at East Bladen on Thursday.
