BLADENBORO – Nelson Vann and Zyhan Wallace delivered key hits during a 3-run 4th inning that carried Clinton to a 7-5 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball victory over West Bladen Friday.

Vann cracked a 2-run single, and Wallace slammed an RBI double as the Dark Horse lead grew to 7-3 in the 4th inning. Caison Brixey walked and Allister Russ reached base on an error in the Knight half of the inning. Hunter Hester knocked in both runners with a double that trimmed the Clinton lead to 7-5.

A hit batter and 4 walks led to 3 Clinton runs in the 1st inning. Aiden Russ led off the Knight half of the first with a single, and Allister Russ reached base on an error. Hester walked, and Aiden Russ darted home on a passed ball. Jackson Smith’s ground ball plated Allister Russ and trimmed the margin to 3-2.

A walk, a hit batter and an error resulted in a Clinton run in the 2nd inning. Chason Harris lined a single to left in the Knight second. Courtesy runner Luke Pait stole 2nd base, and Aiden Russ smacked a single to left that scored Pait and sliced the Clinton lead to 4-3.

Aiden Russ batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the West hitters. Hester walloped the 2-run double. Allister Russ singled and scored twice. Harris singled, Smith had 1 RBI, and Pait and Brixey scored runs.

Weston Hilburn started on the mound for the Knights and allowed 3 runs on 4 walks. Harris pitched 3 innings of relief and gave up 4 runs – 3 earned – on 4 walks while striking out 5. Brixey pitched 2 scoreless innings and allowed 2 hits while striking out 2.

The Knight jayvees, now 0-2 in SAC-7 and 0-4 overall, will host South Columbus Tuesday.
