ELIZABETHTOWN – Freshmen Jacob Priest and Drew Sholar combined to pitch a no-hitter and strike out 8 batters Monday as they led East Bladen to a 10-1 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over St. Pauls.

Priest pitched the first 4 innings and allowed an unearned run, 3 walks and a hit batter while striking out seven. Sholar worked a 1-2-3 inning of relief and struck out one.

The Eagles exploded for 6 runs in the first inning. Jay McKoy reached base on an error, and Jake Evans walked. Freshman Tyler Hill smashed a 2-run double that scored Jay McKoy and Evans.

Freshman Brady Hollingsworth walked, and Xavier McKoy cracked a single that scored Hill. Priest’s sacrifice fly plated Hollingsworth, and Sholar knocked in Xavier McKoy with a single. Sholar scored as Mahki Cromartie reached base on an error.

The Bulldogs scored in the third inning, but the Eagles answered with two runs to push the count to 8-1. Xavier McKoy clobbered a triple, and freshman Garrett Melvin drove in McKoy with a single, and Melvin scored on Cromartie’s fielder’s choice.

East Bladen padded the lead to 10-1 in the fourth inning. Hollingsworth was hit by a pitch, and Xavier McKoy smashed a double to drive him in. Melvin belted a single that scored McKoy.

Xavier McKoy batted 3-3 with a triple, a double, 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to lead the Eagle hitters. Melvin finished 2-3 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Hill slammed the 2-run double and scored a run.

Sholar connected for an rbi single and scored a run. Hollingsworth scored 2 runs, and Jay McKoy, and Evans scored one run each. Priest and Cromartie had one rbi each.

The Eagle jayvees improved to 12-1 with the victory.
