TEACHEY – Dan Tatum’s bases-loaded triple highlighted a 9-run, fourth inning that carried East Bladen’s Eagles to a 10-4 Four County Conference jayvee baseball victory over Wallace-Rose Hill Thursday.

The Bulldogs carried a 2-0 lead into the fourth, but sophmores Devan Stocks and Tanner Meares cracked one-out singles. Freshman Spencer Scott slammed a double to drive in Stocks.

Eric Chancy knocked in Meares and Scott with a single, and Holden Clark belted a single. One out later freshman Shy Pone walked to load the bases, before Tatum walloped the bases loaded triple.

After freshman Pierce Melvin was hit by a pitch, Stocks smacked his second single of the inning to drive in Tatum. Meares followed with his second hit of the inning that drove in Melvin and Stocks and put the Eagles ahead 9-2.

The Eagles tacked on a run in the fifth as Scott Howell walked, and Tatum hammered a double to drive in Howell.

The Bulldogs added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Stocks struck out 8 and allowed 4 runs on 9 hits and a walk. The tall sophmore also led the Eagle hitters with a 3-4 performance that included a run batted in and 2 runs scored.

Tatum finished 2-4 with a triple, a double, 4 rbi’s and a run scored. Meares batted 2-2 with an rbi and a run scored. Clark was 2-4 and scored a run, and Scott doubled in a run and scored one.

Chancy had the 2-run single and scored a run. Rhett Burney added a pinch-hit single, and Pone, Melvin and Howell scored one run each.

The Eagle jayvees improved to 10-2 in league play and 12-3 overall. East Bladen will host Union Tuesday.
