East Bladen High SchoolCERRO GORDO – Freshman Jacob Priest pitched a 4-hitter and struck out six batters to lead East Bladen to a 10-1 Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball victory over West Columbus Tuesday.

The Eagles jumped in front with a 5-run fourth inning. Freddie Wooten, Tyler Hill, Priest, and Garrett Melvin all connected for hits and scored runs in the inning. Makhi Cromartie added a hit, and Drew Sholar walked and scored.

Hill and Priest belted singles and scored runs in the East Bladen fifth inning. Melvin smashed a double that scored Hill, and Sholar knocked in Priest with a single as the lead grew to 7-0.

The Eagles tacked on 3 more runs in the seventh. Sholar laced a lead-off single, and Jay McKoy followed with a single. Jake Evans drove in Sholar with a single, and Wooten hammered a double that scored McKoy and Evans for a 10-0 lead.

West Columbus pushed across a seventh inning run.

Hill finished 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored to lead the Eagle hitters. Wooten batted 3-5 with a double, 2 runs batted in and a run scored. Melvin doubled in a run, scored one and finished 2-4 at the plate.

Sholar batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored, and Evans was 2-4 with a run scored. Priest also batted 2-4 with 2 runs scored. McKoy singled and scored, and Cromartie had one hit.

East Bladen, now 10-1 on the season, will travel to Fairmont Friday.
