TABOR CITY – Cole Butler batted 4-for-4, walloped 2 doubles and scored twice as East Bladen rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to defeat South Columbus 12-4 Friday in non-conference jayvee baseball action.
Aidan Hargrove finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and 2 runs scored for the winners. Drew Sholar batted a perfect 2-for-2 and scored twice. Isaiah Lee turned in a 2-for-3 game at the plate.
Davion Lewis swatted a single, walked twice and scored 3 runs. Pitcher Braylon Cromartie walked twice and scored twice, and Easton Bostic walked and scored a run.
Cromartie allowed 4 2nd inning runs but worked 5 innings allowing 5 hits, 6 walks and a hit batter.
A Butler double and a Lee single led to a pair of Eagle runs in the 3rd inning. Hargrove and Butler hammered doubles as East Bladen took the lead with a 6-run, 4th inning. Sholar, Lewis and Lee connected for singles during the inning. Hits by Hargrove, Sholar and Butler highlighted the Eagles’ 4-run, 5th inning.
Freshman Colton Allen batted 2-for-2 to lead the Stallion hitters.
Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles improved to 2-0 and will travel to Fayetteville Terry Sanford Monday at 4 p.m.
