A ten-run second inning propelled East Bladen to a 12-4 Four County Conference jayvee baseball victory over visiting Wallace-Rose Hill Thursday.

Wallace scored an unearned run in the top of the first on a walk, a passed ball and an error, but the Eagles answered with 2 runs in the home first.

Pitcher Shy Pone walked, stole second base and scored as freshman Pierce Melvin reached base on an error. Sophmore Devan Stocks knocked in Melvin with a single.

Eric Chancy was hit by a pitch to start the East Bladen second inning, moved up on a passed ball and raced home on Scott Howell’s single. Greyson Heustess forced Howell at second base, advanced on a passed ball and sprinted home when Pone cracked a single.

Pone stole second base and circled the bases on a wild pitch and a passed ball as Stocks drew a walk. Spencer Scott smacked a single, and Tanner Meares reached on an error as Stocks scored.

Freshman Dan Tatum belted a single to drive in Scott, and Chancy reached on an error as Meares scored. Howell delivered another single that plated Tatum, and Heustess slammed a double that brought home Chancy and Howell. Heustess darted home on a passed ball for a 12-1 East Bladen lead.

The Bulldogs scored a run in the third on 2 walks and a single, and two more in the fourth on 4 walks and an error.

Pone started on the mound for the Eagles and worked 3.2 innings, allowing 4 runs – 2 earned – on 8 walks and one hit while striking out five. Stocks relieved Pone and struck out 6 of the 8 batters that he faced in 2.1 innings. Stocks gave up one hit and no walks.

Howell batted 3-3 with an rbi and a run scored to lead the East hitters. Heustess finished 2-4 with the 2-run double and 2 runs scored. Pone, Melvin, Stocks, Scott and Tatum connected for one hit each.

Pone, Stocks and Tatum drove in one run each. Chancy and Pone scored 2 runs each, and Stocks, Melvin, Scott, Meares and Tatum scored one run each.

The Eagle jayvees improved to 5-1 in the Four County and 8-2 overall. East Bladen will host Midway Tuesday at 4 p.m.
