East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen scored in every inning en route to a 14-3 jayvee baseball victory over Fairmont Tuesday in Three Rivers Conference action.

After Fairmont scored a first inning run, Eagle sophomore Jake Evans drew a first-inning walk, and freshman Zach Meares belted a single. Freshman Freddie Wooten blasted a double that scored Evans and Meares, and freshman Brady Hollingsworth hammered a double that drove in Wooten and gave the Eagles a 3-1 lead.

Freshman Jacob Priest led off the East Bladen second with a single and advanced on Makhi Cromartie’s sacrifice bunt. Evans was hit by a pitch, and Meares walked to load the bases. Wooten ripped a double that scored Priest and Evans and pushed the lead to 5-1.

Freshman Tyler Hill and Priest cracked singles to begin the East Bladen third inning. Jay McKoy walloped a triple that scored Hill and Priest. Evans drew a walk, and Meares’ fielder’s choice plated Jay McKoy. Evans raced home as Wooten reached base on an error and grew the lead to 9-1.

Fairmont scored twice in the fourth to trim the margin to 9-3. Hill walked to start the Eagle fourth inning, and Priest laced a single to centerfield. Evans drove in Hill with a single, and Meares crushed a triple that scored Priest and Evans. Meares scored on an error to push the lead to 13-3.

Xavier McKoy walked to begin the Eagle fifth inning, and freshman Greyson Clark drilled a double to drive in McKoy and end the game.

Priest batted a perfect 3-3, scored 3 runs and drove in a run. Wooten smashed the two doubles and drove in 4 runs. Meares knocked in 3 runs with a 2-3 day at the plate that included a triple and 2 runs scored.

Hollingworth batted 2-3 with a double and a run batted in. Jay McKoy smashed the 2-run triple and scored a run. Clark pounded the run-scoring double, and Evans and Hill added one hit each. Evans scored 4 runs, and Hill scored twice. Xavier McKoy scored one run.

Priest pitched the first 4 innings to pick up the win, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, 2 hit batters and a walk while striking out four. Meares relieved and struck out 3 batters in a scoreless fifth inning.

East Bladen will travel to St. Pauls Friday.
