ST PAULS – Lee Barnes pitched a no-hitter and struck out 8 of the 9 batters that he faced as East Bladen exploded for 18 runs in the 2nd inning and walloped St. Pauls 24-0 in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball action Monday.

Two St. Pauls errors and singles by Darius Williamson, Parker Greene and Masion Brooks produced a trio of East Bladen runs in the 1st inning. The Eagle bats were smoking in the 2nd inning as 17 hits and 2 walks led to 18 runs and a 21-0 lead.

Two hit batters, a walk and a trio of Eagle hits plated 3 more runs in the 3rd inning. Williamson batted a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and 3 runs scored. Brooks also turned in a perfect 3-for-3 game with a double and 2 runs scored. Greene finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and 3 runs scored.

Second baseman J’marius Smith also batted a perfect 3-for-3 for the winners with a double and 3 runs scored. Cole Butler turned in a 2-for-3 game with 2 runs scored. Na’Toren Corbett finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Barnes was 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored.

Lead-off batter Caleb Scruggins blasted a pair of triples, walked and scored 4 runs for East. Kalec Autry, Carson Gooden and Andrew Musselwhite added 1 hit each to the Eagle attack. Autry, Cromartie, and Rodney Lacewell scored 1 run each.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagle jayvees improved to 4-0 in SAC-7 play and 6-1 overall. East Bladen is scheduled to host St. Pauls Thursday at 4 p.m.
