ELIZABETHTOWN – Freshmen Brady Hollingsworth and Freddie Wooten combined to pitch a 3-hit shutout and strike-out nine batters and lead East Bladen to a 5-0 jayvee baseball victory over St. Pauls Friday.

Hollingsworth pitched the first 4 innings and struck out seven while walking 2 and giving up 3 hits. Wooten worked a hitless fifth inning and struck out two.

Sophmore Jake Evans drew a first-inning walk and circled the bases on a trio of passed balls to score the first Eagle run.

Freshman Rasean McKoy was hit by a pitch to start the East Bladen third inning and advanced on a balk and a passed ball before racing home when freshman Zach Meares laced a single for a 2-0 lead.

Hollingsworth led off the Eagle fourth inning with a single, and Xavier McKoy drew a walk. Freshman Jacob Priest reached base on a fielder’s choice. Mahki Cromartie’s fielder’s choice scored Hollingsworth, and Rasean McKoy knocked in Priest with a single that padded the lead to 4-0.

Meares drew a walk to begin the Eagle fifth inning. Wooten and Hollingsworth cracked singles with Hollingsworth’s hit scoring Meares with the final run.

Hollingsworth batted a perfect 3-3 with a run scored and a run batted in to lead the Eagle hitters. Meares, Wooten, and Rasean McKoy connected for one hit each.

Meares, Evans, Priest and Rasean McKoy scored one run each, and Meares, Wooten, Rasean McKoy and Cromartie drove in one run each.

The Eagle jayvees improved to 5-1 on the season and will host East Columbus Tuesday at 4 p.m.
